In my freshmen year, I lettered in both track and cross country. I also got the Rookie of the Year Award in cross country, and the Freshmen of the Year Award in track. At regions for XC I was 7th. At state I was 65th. In track at regions I placed 3rd in the mile and 2nd in the 2 mile. At state I was 17th in the mile and 13th in the 2 mile.

Sophomore year I was a cross country captain and I lettered again. I was 3rd at regions and 12th at state. At track regions I was 3rd in the mile and the 2 mile. I also anchored the winning medley relay team.

Junior year I got a stress fracture about a month before the cross country season started, but made a great comeback with a 2nd place finish at regions.  At state I placed 6th, and I broke 19 minutes for the second time in my racing history.  Team captain again. In track I shattered my old PRs and was doing well until I got a stress reaction.  After 3 weeks off I built my strength back up and performed well at state, earning 4th in the 1600 and 5th in the 3200.  After that, I was invited to the Great Southwest Track Meet in Albuquerque, where I took 5th.

My senior year in cross country I was a captain again, this time with Amanda and Natalie.  This season I was injury free so I got to run competitively at invites.  At state I took 3rd.  At Footlocker Western Regionals I outkicked a girl on the track to finish 10th, which qualified me for nationals the next weekend.  I beat both of the girls who had beat me at state in that race.  At nationals I took 22nd and beat 6 of the girls who had beat me at regionals.  Going into the outdoor season the first Invitational I attended was the Davis Super Meet where I qualified for state in the 1600 and the 3200, and I broke the meet record for the 3200 in an 11:01.29, the previous record was an 11:17.  I had a strong finish to my senior season and finally claimed a state title.  I ran the fastest 1600 and 3200 at state for any division, claiming the double crown in those events, and earning the athlete of the year award :)

Now in college, I run for the University of Utah.  I lettered my freshman season of cross country, and made it to regionals in the 5k in track.

Sophomore year I improved in cross country.  In track I raced the 1500, 5k, 800, 10k, and the mile of the DMR before repeating the 5k at conference and then the 10k at regionals.  Placed 28th behind a lot of seniors... so nationals next year!!

Today we started with 2 grass laps for warmup.  Then we did some drills with strides.  We did butt kicks, high knees, lunges, squats, and power skips.  I took off my shoes for them because it felt nice in the grass.  Then we did a mile of speedchanges.  Then we did 2 grass laps cooldown.  When I got home I took a 15 minute ice bath.

Today we did an easy workout because of regions tomorrow.  We did 4 laps warmup, and then 6 strides.  To make it fun we changed lanes for each stride.  Then we did 2 grass laps for cooldown, and we had fun singing Disney songs :)

Today I started with about a mile warmup on the road near the high school.  I was running with Amanda, Natalie, Abigail, and Bill.  Then we went back to the track where I took my Gu and changed my shoes and then went for drills.  I did the usual buttkicks, high knees, power skips, and lunges, all with strides.  I got to watch my little sister race in the first heat, she matched her PR time.  Then on the line I was second seed.  Going out I didn't have a very good start, I got boxed in by a few people.  By the 200 meter though I was able to break out and take the lead.  First lap split was 1:17.  I wasn't sure how close the other girls were behind me, but I knew that I needed to go out hard those first 2 laps because that's what Bill had told me to do.  I could hear  Kate behind me and I tried to break away from her.  I threw in some speedchanges in laps 2 and 3,  but going into lap 4 she caught up to me.  I was with her until 300 to go.  She outkicked me, like she has since I was a freshman and she was a sophomore.  Still, I made it to state and I think I got a new PR.  Afterwards I did about a half mile cooldown.

This morning I got up early and ran a mile with my ipod.

The meet start time had been moved up 15 minutes, but we still made it in enough time to get in a good warmup.  We did about a mile and a half warmup again, out on the roads by the school.  Then back in the stadium I took my Gu and we got our spikes and went to the field to warmup.  I jogged a little bit before I started my drills because there was still a few minutes before the first heat started.  I did some strides as I went to different parts of the track to cheer on the girls in the first heat.  Natalie, Amanda, Hannah, and Bre were top 4 in that heat, it was cool to watch.  Finally it was time for me and my sister to get to the line.  I had the first spot, and realized that it wouldn't really be too competitive because Kate wasn't going to do the 3200.  Still I decided to see how well I could push myself.  I had a strong start and got right out into the front and was already breaking away during that first lap, which was a 1:17.  I decided to focus on keeping good form during that race.  The first mile I hit a 5:41.  My goal had been to see if I could hit a 5:28 and then see if I could get a negative split.  Maybe if there were other girls in the race that I could push with I could have, but it wasn't a bad race.  I didn't kick very hard at the finish.  Afterwards I did 4 half mile cooldowns.

Today we had an easy day.  We ran to Sugarhouse Park, did a lap, and ran back to the track.  I ran with Natalie and Amanda.  We did our lap at Sugarhouse backwards, and the guys who were doing it the other way joined us when we saw them as they went the opposite way.  So we ran the rest of our run with Rj, Scott, and Taylor.  We were going to sing Disney songs again, but really the only one we knew was Mulan.  We had a great time, and are all looking forward to cross country in 17 days!!!

This morning right after I woke up I went for a nice 7 mile run.  I ran to the cemetery on 3300s from my house.  I didn't have to stop at any lights so that was very nice.  I averaged 8 minute miles.  Such a nice day :)
