In my freshmen year, I lettered in both track and cross country. I also got the Rookie of the Year Award in cross country, and the Freshmen of the Year Award in track. At regions for XC I was 7th. At state I was 65th. In track at regions I placed 3rd in the mile and 2nd in the 2 mile. At state I was 17th in the mile and 13th in the 2 mile.

Sophomore year I was a cross country captain and I lettered again. I was 3rd at regions and 12th at state. At track regions I was 3rd in the mile and the 2 mile. I also anchored the winning medley relay team.

Junior year I got a stress fracture about a month before the cross country season started, but made a great comeback with a 2nd place finish at regions.  At state I placed 6th, and I broke 19 minutes for the second time in my racing history.  Team captain again. In track I shattered my old PRs and was doing well until I got a stress reaction.  After 3 weeks off I built my strength back up and performed well at state, earning 4th in the 1600 and 5th in the 3200.  After that, I was invited to the Great Southwest Track Meet in Albuquerque, where I took 5th.

My senior year in cross country I was a captain again, this time with Amanda and Natalie.  This season I was injury free so I got to run competitively at invites.  At state I took 3rd.  At Footlocker Western Regionals I outkicked a girl on the track to finish 10th, which qualified me for nationals the next weekend.  I beat both of the girls who had beat me at state in that race.  At nationals I took 22nd and beat 6 of the girls who had beat me at regionals.  Going into the outdoor season the first Invitational I attended was the Davis Super Meet where I qualified for state in the 1600 and the 3200, and I broke the meet record for the 3200 in an 11:01.29, the previous record was an 11:17.  I had a strong finish to my senior season and finally claimed a state title.  I ran the fastest 1600 and 3200 at state for any division, claiming the double crown in those events, and earning the athlete of the year award :)

Now in college, I run for the University of Utah.  I lettered my freshman season of cross country, and made it to regionals in the 5k in track.

Sophomore year I improved in cross country.  In track I raced the 1500, 5k, 800, 10k, and the mile of the DMR before repeating the 5k at conference and then the 10k at regionals.  Placed 28th behind a lot of seniors... so nationals next year!!

Speed workout today, it was windy throughout it but the wind got a lot worse and rain came after we finished.  We started with a mile warmup and then a mile of speedchanges and a lap recovery.  Then we did a 1200, my time was 4:42, not the target time I was supposed to hit.  Then a lap recovery.  Then we did an 800, my time was 2:59, I hit the split I was supposed to for the first lap but not the second.  Then a lap recovery.  Then we did four 400s with 100 recovery, but after the last 200 recovery.  My times were 1:25 (Abigail beat me on that one, I was proud of her), 1:24, 1:27, 1:24.  Then two 2o0s, I hit :39 and I don't know my time for the second one.  200 recovery for each of those.  Then 2 stadium laps and a track lap for cooldown.

Today I ran from my house to the drinking fountain at Shriner's.  I stopped to stretch and get a drink and ran back the same way I had come.  My average pace was 8:06, when I reached the drinking fountain it was at 8:18 so I must have picked up the pace a bit on the way back.  Afterwards I did three sets of crunches, pushups, and armswings.

Today I started with 2 miles of warmup and then a mile of speedchanges.  Then I changed shoes and did strides and headed to the line.  Abigail and I were close to missing the start.  I had a good spot on the line and I took the lead in the first 100 meters.  Noone was with me the duration of the race.  I hit a 1:20 for the first lap, just what Bill wanted me to hit, and my second lap was at 2:46, third lap at 4:13.  Afterwards I did a half mile cooldown barefoot.

Today we started with 2 grass loops (1 mile) and a mile of speedchanges on the track for warmup.  Then we did three sets of the circuit.  We did three sets of high knee step ups also.  And there were 8 hurdles, doing 2 of each set we sprinted up to them, stepped over, sprinted to the halfway point of the soccerfield, and jogged back to the start to do another set.  We did sets of regular stepping over, and stepping sideways, each leg twice.  Then we did 5 hills by the soccer field.  Then 2 more stadium laps cooldown.

Today I started with about a mile warmup and then some stretching.  Then I did another mile and went and changed shoes.  Then Bill poured water on me to cool me off since it was hot.  Then I did some strides by the line.  On the line I was in starting position 2.  The first lap was a 1:20, and I held that again the second lap.  After that the pace slowed down a little.  I was able to get into third and keep it for a while, but I knew another girl was close behind me.  The first mile split was 5:37.  During I think the 5th lap the girl behind me passed me a little bit.  I knew I couldn't let her go so I stuck with her even though it was tough.  Then on the opposite side of the track I was able to pass her again.  We did that each lap up to lap 7.  Then I started kicking and got enough ahead that she wasn't catching me.  I really started kicking hard more in the last 200.  Bill said if I had started my kick the last 400 I could have caught the girl who was in second.  I qualified for state, which I have never done before with time so I was very happy with that :)  I ran so hard, I threw up after my race.
