In my original marathon training plan that I devised for myself, I wanted to build up to a 24-mile long run. I am not sure whether such a long run is necessary, but I wanted to experiment with it.

It is supposed to get above 100 degrees this afternoon, so i was worried it would be warm morning. So I started at 5:20 am. Crazy stuff.

I ran a similar route as the last long run. This time I turned around at 4500 South 2700 East. It turned out to be 24 miles. The pace for every mile was between 8:00 and 9:00. The average pace was 8:22. I didn't feel nearly as good this time as on the last long run, but it wasn't bad.

I ate Jelly Belly sport beans. They tasted better than the GU Chomps, but they were harder to eat. It was harder to get them out of the bag and there were more of them to eat.

I didn't get my goal of 70 miles for the week (64). But I had 3 really good hard workouts. The rest was just details. Now it's all downhill for the next six weeks until St. George.

Thanks! I wish I could do the TOU half. Sounds like a great race. But we'll be out of town.
