No injuries, ever.   :)

Short-Term Running Goals:

Qualify for Boston (4:05 for my age/gender) - or, perhaps, to use my desire for a BQ as a way to get in the hated speed work so I don't just get slower and slower over the years.  This goal is "under (re)construction" right now, until I figure out whether it is truly what I want. :)

Long-Term Running Goals:

To continue learning about myself and about running, and to enjoy being a fit, happy runner for life.   To always know why I am running and the best way to get the most (both mentally and physically) out of my runs.  To keep a sense of humor and remain optimistic about myself as a runner.  To enjoy running more and more with every passing year.

Personal:

Baby boomer generation.  Jogged a little in my 20's and 30's.  Started running seriously in 2002.  Low-carb runner since January 2010.

I love long runs and cold, cloudy weather.  I don't believe in "junk miles."  I am an optimist.  I adore dark chocolate, fog, my family, and knitting -- not necessarily in that order.

"As every runner knows, running is about more than just putting one foot in front of the other; it is about our lifestyle and who we are."  -- Joan Benoit Samuelson

No sleep, no run.

I am beginning to doubt whether this cat is EVER going to accept staying indoors.  It has been about 1.5 months and there doesn't seem to be much of any change.  He decided to start meowing at 1:30 AM and it must have gone on for about an hour.  Am I tilting at windmills?

Poor kitty! Poor Sno! He is depriving you of runs now, so something must be done, eh? Can you give him melatonin? Do you have a natural vet around there that you can call?

Sounds like he is sorely missing the freedom he used to experience outdoors. How old is he? A young cat can probably adapt to being entirely indoors, but an older cat who has been used to being outdoors a lot won't understand why he can't go out anymore - it's an integral part of his life.

I have mixed feelings at letting my cats out, but they have always been indoor/outdoor cats so I figure it is best to let them have their freedom, even if there might potentially be a bad outcome. (Unfortunately, my cats have been bringing dead mice in through their cat flap and leaving them as "gifts" next to my bedroom doorway. 8 gifts in the last 8 days! I guess I should feel honored by their gifts, but!!!)

I say...let him roam! Set him free...he'll come back...(don't blame me if he doesn't though) :-)

Maybe the cat nabber has cooled down over the last 6 weeks and/or found another cat to prey on. It's too bad you can't put some kind of tracking device on your cat and bust the punk who might be trying to keep him!

I'm with S. Ridge Runner. Set him free. (Much, much easier said than done of course).

Cat enclosure?

From Snoqualmie on Wed, Jul 21, 2010 at 11:25:40 from 24.18.192.33

Thanks for all the comments and concerns. I assure you, all the ideas have been tried in the past, including drug therapy and a cat enclosure (at our old house). This is how the little dear got his nickname. I think Jeff might be right. It's an agonizing decision though. Thanks again for your support.

CookieLegs - I got gifts too. It was most frustrating because he didn't eat them himself, as I am a big believer in raw diets for cats. (http://www.rawfedcats.org/) Good luck.
