Marathon PR: 4:17 at Portland Marathon, Oct. 2007

5K PR 24:37 2009

Have run 22 marathons to date.

No injuries, ever.   :)

Short-Term Running Goals:

Qualify for Boston (4:05 for my age/gender) - or, perhaps, to use my desire for a BQ as a way to get in the hated speed work so I don't just get slower and slower over the years.  This goal is "under (re)construction" right now, until I figure out whether it is truly what I want. :)

Long-Term Running Goals:

To continue learning about myself and about running, and to enjoy being a fit, happy runner for life.   To always know why I am running and the best way to get the most (both mentally and physically) out of my runs.  To keep a sense of humor and remain optimistic about myself as a runner.  To enjoy running more and more with every passing year.

Personal:

Baby boomer generation.  Jogged a little in my 20's and 30's.  Started running seriously in 2002.  Low-carb runner since January 2010.

I love long runs and cold, cloudy weather.  I don't believe in "junk miles."  I am an optimist.  I adore dark chocolate, fog, my family, and knitting -- not necessarily in that order.

"As every runner knows, running is about more than just putting one foot in front of the other; it is about our lifestyle and who we are."  -- Joan Benoit Samuelson

54F, mostly cloudy. Spectacular red sunrise ("sailors take warning!").  G-A run w/ 2.5 mi MP.

Nice run.  Pretty morning.

Completely off topic, but since we are also a quasi social group....  If you have never taken the Myers Briggs personality test, here is a link to a quickie version of the test.  Then, take your "type" over to this site to learn more about what it all means.  I cannot say I'm completely true to my type (INTJ), but inasmuch as I do "fit," it is very satisfying to have validation for some traits that the world, in general, may not always value.  Enjoy!

Normally, I'm skeptical about those tests and wouldn't waste my time, but I did this one and I have to say it nailed me 99.9%. I just read the detailed description for my "type" and the only place it missed the mark was about liking positions of authority. I hate being responsible for other people's actions at work and I avoid authority like the plague :) The rest is so accurate, it's kind of scary.

Thanks for sharing.

ISFJ for me.

ISTJ

I - 89%

S - 1%

T - 25%

J - 56%

The "Career Indicator" section is spooky. My current and previous occupations are both on the list. Evidently I should also take up "Sport Coaching", which is obviously code for "those that cannot do, teach".

INTJ and the same discrepancy you had...

From Snoqualmie on Wed, Sep 15, 2010 at 13:45:05 from 24.18.192.33

RT - Yeah, I know what you mean. I think there are other "layers" that come into play, like birth order or family history. There were many scary, "that's me" moments for me too, but others where I thought, "what?!?!" It might also have variability due to the percentages in each factor. IE, you could be an "E," but only 55% E -- that's pretty close to the line and could make the profile inaccurate.

INTJ...today anyway.

ISTJ--pretty close to me! creepy!

From Dale on Wed, Sep 15, 2010 at 20:38:35 from 69.10.215.11

Hey, us ISTJ's aren't creepy!

From Bonnie on Wed, Sep 15, 2010 at 21:28:17 from 128.196.228.134

INFJ

And I think that when I took the 'real' version of this test a couple years ago, that is what I was then too (maybe I am not progressing or regressing).

From allie on Wed, Sep 15, 2010 at 22:21:40 from 161.38.218.168

we're all a bunch of introverts.

From Snoqualmie on Thu, Sep 16, 2010 at 08:32:18 from 24.18.192.33

I noticed that too. Maybe Running attracts us, or maybe we just enjoy computer relationships. lol

INTJ

From Snoqualmie on Thu, Sep 16, 2010 at 16:28:49 from 24.18.192.33

So four INTJs here. That seems statistically out of balance!

From Dale on Thu, Sep 16, 2010 at 16:31:40 from 69.10.215.11

What? Why do you think the INTJs are unbalanced???

From allie on Thu, Sep 16, 2010 at 16:44:11 from 161.38.218.168

didn't you see the last line of the INTJ description?

"Enjoy reading blogs that contain links to personality tests. Highly skilled at posting their results to the test and engaging in online discussion about it."

From JD on Thu, Sep 16, 2010 at 17:01:34 from 70.96.78.157

:-) QLTM! (quietly laughing to myself).

From AZDesertmonsoon on Thu, Sep 16, 2010 at 17:10:56 from 204.17.31.126

INTJ's are more analytical and introspective and therefore more likely to participate. The discussion previously about how we shouldn't care about even numbers. That is also a very INTJ type discussion.

From Snoqualmie on Fri, Sep 17, 2010 at 12:33:38 from 24.18.192.33

What I like about being an INTJ is that I'm always right. ;)

From Barb on Sat, Sep 18, 2010 at 06:43:39 from 81.85.252.242

Well, I couldn't let this discussion go without at least ONE extrovert. I scored an ESFJ.

From Snoqualmie on Sat, Sep 18, 2010 at 12:26:51 from 24.18.192.33

Oh Barb, you are "The Caregiver!" No wonder you are so supportive. You can be our token Extrovert. "Yeah, one of my best friends is..."
