Marathon PR: 4:17 at Portland Marathon, Oct. 2007

5K PR 24:37 2009

10K PR 52:58 2010

Have run 22 marathons to date.

No injuries, ever.   :)

Short-Term Running Goals:

Qualify for Boston (4:05 for my age/gender) - or, perhaps, to use my desire for a BQ as a way to get in the hated speed work so I don't just get slower and slower over the years.  This goal is "under (re)construction" right now, until I figure out whether it is truly what I want. :) 


Long-Term Running Goals:

To continue learning about myself and about running, and to enjoy being a fit, happy runner for life.   To always know why I am running and the best way to get the most (both mentally and physically) out of my runs.  To keep a sense of humor and remain optimistic about myself as a runner.  To enjoy running more and more with every passing year. 

Personal:

Baby boomer generation.  Jogged a little in my 20's and 30's.  Started running seriously in 2002.  Low-carb runner since January 2010. 

I love long runs and cold, cloudy weather.  I don't believe in "junk miles."  I am an optimist.  I adore dark chocolate, fog, my family, and knitting -- not necessarily in that order.

47F, raining, then foggy, then just cloudy. 

I peeked out the window and the rain wasn't too bad, just a bit of drizzle. The Doppler outlook was hard to figure. But everything seemed to change when I stepped outside.

After a mile of heavy rain,  during which a continual stream of attempted denials went through my head, I decided to accept the fact that my feet were soaked through.  Coupled with not feeling very social or very energetic today, the truth drove me to turn around from my destination (running club) and go home to change into my SealSkinz socks.  

So no club run, and very few miles (for a Saturday). But I'm just not feeling my normal self today. It's nice to let go sometimes.

Some days are just like that Sno, I hope you made some hot chocolate, or some Paleo thing that is similar (;-), Dean is still enjoying eating a peusdo Paleo diet and has yet another new book on the topic) and enjoyed the drizzly day?

It's nice, and healthy, to let go sometimes. Though it's not your usual long run, 11 miles is nothing to sniff at either.

Thanks, friends. The rest of my day was equally blah, including the moment when I bumped an entire filter cup of wet coffee grounds (with water percolating through them) onto the kitchen floor. Well, the rug needed to be laundered anyway. Thank you, universe, for sending me that.

April - I was trying to out-guess the satellite imagery as to when the rain would stop. It stopped at about my 5 mile mark. Not 15 minutes after leaving the house, as I expected. I am a bona fide member of the Church of the Unwarranted Assumption.

Bonnie - I cleaned up and started the coffee over. Then I sat and knit for a *long* time.

Tomorrow we get our hour back!

i know it is not your usual saturday mileage, but 11 is still excellent. good job.

all that rain is headed our way tomorrow morning. i am predicting a whole week of "blah" for me. knit away!
