Marathon PR: 4:17 at Portland Marathon, Oct. 2007

Have run 22 marathons to date.

No injuries, ever.   :)

Short-Term Running Goals:

Qualify for Boston (4:05 for my age/gender) - or, perhaps, to use my desire for a BQ as a way to get in the hated speed work so I don't just get slower and slower over the years.  This goal is "under (re)construction" right now, until I figure out whether it is truly what I want. :)

Long-Term Running Goals:

To continue learning about myself and about running, and to enjoy being a fit, happy runner for life.   To always know why I am running and the best way to get the most (both mentally and physically) out of my runs.  To keep a sense of humor and remain optimistic about myself as a runner.  To enjoy running more and more with every passing year.

Personal:

Baby boomer generation.  Jogged a little in my 20's and 30's.  Started running seriously in 2002.  Low-carb runner since January 2010.

I love long runs and cold, cloudy weather.  I don't believe in "junk miles."  I am an optimist.  I adore dark chocolate, fog, my family, and knitting -- not necessarily in that order.

"As every runner knows, running is about more than just putting one foot in front of the other; it is about our lifestyle and who we are."  -- Joan Benoit Samuelson

35F, clouds and light, patchy fog. Easy run.

(DEEP BREATH....)  I'm taking an extended leave from the blog, dear friends.  I've tried "minimizing" my blog time this fall and that has been a complete failure, since I inevitably slide back into spending more and more time here.  You're like potato chips, can't have just one or two.

I had a lot more down time this past week because of the snow closures and the holiday. It was a good time to relax and reevaluate my schedule, the newest development in which is that I will be "going back to work" so to speak, which just means I'm going to have a regular gig (harpist) again.  It also means I will put my harp website back up, which means the freelance jobs will start rolling in again. I've been flying under the radar for a few years now, since homeschooling my daughter made it hard for me to accept a lot of jobs.  We're still homeschooling, but her increasing independence (and my increasing desire to return to work) have made me think this might be the right time to make some changes.

Running: there will be no change. I'm still going to push the mileage as close to 50+ mpw as I can, run in all weathers, enjoy my 20 milers on weekends, and work towards that BQ.  Anyone can PM me if they want to check in and say hello.  Many of you already have my private email and I would love to keep in touch with you.  And I'm sure I'll sneak back and check on your blogs from time to time.

Naturally I have to gush a little about how much I've enjoyed you all and appreciated your kindness, wisdom and support. Especially you guys on my Favorites List, thank you, thank you, thank you for all you have taught me and for your friendship.

Maybe I'll be back again, if I find I've got more time, or if I just can't live without you!  :)    Happy holidays, and happy running to you all. -Sno

I'll miss your daily blogs. Good for you for stepping away from the blogging a bit. Whenever I'm running in the rain or fog I'll send a little vibe your way!

Well, enjoy your time off, but know that we'll all be going through withdrawal pretty soon! Have fun back at work (a phrase I never thought I'd say!).

You are so brave to walk away from us! Or put us on hold for a while.

Going back to work is a great idea! Also glad to hear that you will continue running and your quest for BQ. When that happens PLEASE post--as I would love to read about it! (or you can email me directly)

Well, here it is Dec 15 and the first time in probably 3 weeks since I've checked out your blog. I haven't checked out ANYONE'S blog as I've been so busy with Thanksgiving, Christmas coming, school events, work responsibilities etc.

I will indeed miss your blog. You've been such an encouragement to me in becoming a more serious runner.

Let us know once in a while how you're doing! Take care friend.

From Snoqualmie on Wed, Dec 15, 2010 at 11:34:05 from 24.18.192.33

I still hope to meet you someday, Barb! Maybe SF Marathon in 2012! Happy holidays, and happy running!

I miss your monkeys!

Happy New Year, Sno!

From Snoqualmie on Fri, Dec 31, 2010 at 19:40:24 from 24.18.192.33

Happy New Year to you as well! Things are going well for me, as I hope they are for all of you as well.

Latest discovery: XC spikes for icy conditions. I still like my Yaktrax best for snow, but the spikes do better than anything else on ice. Cheers!!

Keep an eye out for the Light At The End Of The Tunnel Marathon. It's right in your neighborhood and registration opens pretty soon...

Hey, Sno - wanted to know what's up and how your training/running/racing is going!

From Snoqualmie on Fri, Jul 20, 2012 at 11:42:40 from 50.135.46.205

Hi Benn! Aren't you nice to check up on me! I'm doing fine and still running strong. But I missed my run this morning for one of the only two weather conditions I won't go out in: lightening storm. (The other is ice storms.) :( How are you doing? Thanks for checking on me. :) Sno

Lurker!

From Barb on Fri, Jul 27, 2012 at 12:09:57 from 75.40.23.2

Hey Sno...glad to see that you're still running!!! SF 2012 is this Sunday! You gonna be there? Never know...had to ask :-)

From Benn Griffin on Sat, Jul 28, 2012 at 05:25:51 from 174.252.52.64

Sno- I am the same way. Lightening and hurricanes are the only conditions I do not run in. I am doing well. Just finished my sixth marathon/ultra of the year at 1am. Then drove to Boston to run the Color Run. I am running a 50 mile trail race in September and then BayState marathon in October and First Descents marathon in Deleware in December.
