No injuries, ever.   :)

Short-Term Running Goals:

Qualify for Boston (4:05 for my age/gender) - or, perhaps, to use my desire for a BQ as a way to get in the hated speed work so I don't just get slower and slower over the years.  This goal is "under (re)construction" right now, until I figure out whether it is truly what I want. :)

Long-Term Running Goals:

To continue learning about myself and about running, and to enjoy being a fit, happy runner for life.   To always know why I am running and the best way to get the most (both mentally and physically) out of my runs.  To keep a sense of humor and remain optimistic about myself as a runner.  To enjoy running more and more with every passing year.

Personal:

Baby boomer generation.  Jogged a little in my 20's and 30's.  Started running seriously in 2002.  Low-carb runner since January 2010.

I love long runs and cold, cloudy weather.  I don't believe in "junk miles."  I am an optimist.  I adore dark chocolate, fog, my family, and knitting -- not necessarily in that order.

"As every runner knows, running is about more than just putting one foot in front of the other; it is about our lifestyle and who we are."  -- Joan Benoit Samuelson

Low 40sF, very rainy, very windy.  Easy run, with  last mile barefoot on TM.  20 min strength.

It's been a while since I had a "carwash" run, so I guess I was due for one.  It was fine. Plenty comfortable in my "getup," though of course I'd prefer drier weather.  I think the worst thing is knowing that car drivers can't see me.  I was extra careful, but still had two close calls.

Wow. I'm impressed that you were able to run in the car wash weather. And I'm glad that your close calls weren't any closer. Please don't get yourself hurt!

Be careful out there. One day I counted people texting/talking while driving and since then I've pretty much quit running any roads without sidewalks or VERY wide shoulders.

All the texting/talking while driving is crazy! I agree with Rattletrap it makes running even more dangerous. Glad that the close calls were not any closer. Way to get a run accomplished in conditions most mortals would never even try. :)

With the driving rain, I can tell they just can't see me. But one was a car coming out of an alley -- you know how they get used to the sidewalk being free every other day so why not today? The other was just a rain-blinded SUV driver. Fortunately, I can see THEM and hear them and I TRUST NO ONE behind a wheel.

Yes trust no one! I have very few shoulders and get nervous at times. At times I have waived my arms about to make sure they see me. But that only works in better weather!

Its dark and rainy morning like this that make me really appreciate trails (and lately swimming pools!).
