Have run 22 marathons to date.

No injuries, ever.   :)

Short-Term Running Goals:

Qualify for Boston (4:05 for my age/gender) - or, perhaps, to use my desire for a BQ as a way to get in the hated speed work so I don't just get slower and slower over the years.  This goal is "under (re)construction" right now, until I figure out whether it is truly what I want. :)

Long-Term Running Goals:

To continue learning about myself and about running, and to enjoy being a fit, happy runner for life.   To always know why I am running and the best way to get the most (both mentally and physically) out of my runs.  To keep a sense of humor and remain optimistic about myself as a runner.  To enjoy running more and more with every passing year.

Personal:

Baby boomer generation.  Jogged a little in my 20's and 30's.  Started running seriously in 2002.  Low-carb runner since January 2010.

I love long runs and cold, cloudy weather.  I don't believe in "junk miles."  I am an optimist.  I adore dark chocolate, fog, my family, and knitting -- not necessarily in that order.

"As every runner knows, running is about more than just putting one foot in front of the other; it is about our lifestyle and who we are."  -- Joan Benoit Samuelson

53-55F, cloudy, w/ very light rain miles 6-10. Endurance run, club run, leg builder hill, and 2 unscheduled MP miles when I realized I was late for the club.

There was a new runner at the club, beginning again after not running at all for a couple of years. She's been running on a TM the past month, the poor dear.  So I slowed my pace to run 1.5 miles with her, then it was just me and my invisible friends again. A good time was had by all.

Only 3 weeks after a marathon. Nice!

It must have felt good to get a long run in again.

Congratulations on a great long run. You're nice to encourage the beginner.

Yes, but the important question is: Did you beat your invisible friends to the finish line?

Even bigger question, did your invisible friends answer you? ;-).

Glad you had a nice run!

Man I need to take some post race notes from you....I'm starting training back up again tomorrow and I swear I either run too much or too little post races...I can't seem to get it right! and I keep having to feel like I"m starting all over again!

JD - It felt great!

Dale - My invisible friends always let me win. I'm all they've got after all.

Sounds like your kind of weather!

Hey, when would your family like to get together for dinner and chitchat? We've got some friends that have a daughter the same age as yours and they have run multiple marathons in the past....lot's to talk about. Wait, you've met Larry, but I don't think you've met his absolutely wonderful wife. Let me know what works for you guys and I will set something up...

Sounds like fun. I'll PM you soon.
