Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Nice cool morning easy recovery run with Karen.  I didn't wear my Garmin.  Karen took hers just for mileage sake, neither of us knew how far our legs would let us go.  Quads are a little tight.  We stopped to stretch at couple stop signs and felt pretty good the rest of the run.  I ran 9.25, Karen did 7 since I ran to her house and back!

My Texas grandkids and their parents are arriving today!  I am so excited!  Need to get the bedrooms ready and stock up the fridge and pantry! :) :) :)

AM: Ran with Karen (Skye), Mary, Carolyn and Wendy on the 3rd W-rail Trail-3200 N loop bright and early.  Very pleasant cool weather, the trail was shaded.  Got warm running east and uphill on 3200 N.  No Garmin.  Legs definitely did not like the hills.

Foam roll.  Stretch.  Core.

PM: Fun day shopping with Larissa.  Picked up Lily at the airport.  Went to Ocean Market on the way home.  Cooked a nice dinner: chow fun (Larissa's favorite) and mahpoh dohfu (Brandon's favorite).

In the evening took everyone to Day Break to visit Jeff and Jenn.  Took the grandkids to the lake and park and walked over to look at the site of the Extreme Makeover Home edition.  Long day, my dogs are tired! :)

Karen had to take her daughter to gymnastics so we didn't get started until 7:20, by then the temp was already getting up to 70.  Thankfully we had partly cloudy sky most of the way; however it was still warm & windy!  I don't know how people in AZ or TX train in the summer.

I was planning on no more than 11, Karen's schedule was supposed to be 7, we ended up running 12!  Glad I carried Gatorade.  We ran to the Alpine fountain of youth so Karen could get a drink and turned around.  It was a pain running around the construction zones across SR 92 and the canal.  My legs were fried!  Let's see... I ran a downhill marathon 18 days ago and a downhill Half 4 days ago... no wonder they don't like me now!  Ice bathed the legs, ahhh!  So glad the grandkids enjoyed coloring & drawing after lunch so I could *rest*!  :)

Cloudy breezy morning, felt cooler than yesterday.  Ran EZ with Karen on Bull River.

On my way home from PCMC, I got a surprise call from David telling me he's driving home tomorrow!  I am so excited! :)

Is anyone running long on Sat.?  What are your plans?

Was going to take a rest day but Karen wanted to get a run in before leaving town.  We started at 7:30 and took the hills in the neighborhood south.  It was getting so hot.  I walked the big hill up Center.  Nice chatty run.  Glad I went...need to start the month off right!  :)  Tomorrow's a different story!  So not looking forward to run slow and long by my lonesome!

My quads were/are not recovered from last week's downhill Half and the hilly runs during the week.  So when Kathie invited me to join her and Kimmy to run with them on the flat JRP, I was overjoy!!! :)

Picked up Kelly and JonA at 4:30 to meet Kathie and Kimmy for our 5am run.  SO HAPPY and THANKFUL for the invite and GREAT company or I would've struggled/suffered miserably with a solo run in the heat!  THANK YOU K, K, K and J!!!! :) :) :) :)  The miles just flew by and were done before it got hot!  :)

We ran southward out and back for 6 miles, then northward hoping for 10-11 more miles. The north portion of the trail was flooded with very stinky swampy water at about 3.5 mi out; so turned around and ran the south portion again for another 3 miles.  So grateful for the water/gu provided by WRC at Winchester.  Was cool to run into Teena, JohnnyV and JohnD who were so very SPEEDY!!! :)
