Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Zero running.  Was so excited about my grand baby coming from Houston that I didn't sleep a wink.  Workers came early again.  Spent the day cleaning and getting downstair room and bathroom ready for daughter and grandbaby.

I signed up to run the Pony Express 50 miles today!!!  I am very excited and nervous at the same time.  I've never run that far before.  I hope I can finish under 11 hours.  :) :) :)

Cabinets re-installed.  Some electrical stuff, fans  and closet lights installed....but still need to figure out some bugs with wiring so nothing is turned on yet.  Carpet to be installed next week.   Granite guy came to template the counter top.

You are so brave! Trail races really scare me. Especially ones that are 50-100 miles! My cousin did one and it was only a 50k but actually ended up being 37 miles due to bad marking on the course and we all know Kelli's story! I'm afraid if that happened to me I would sit down and cry and refuse to go on and then I would die out there in the wilderness all alone!

Ok a little bit dramatic I know! :)

Smooth, I'm certain you will finish. You know most of the course since you did a lot of it that one time. You have many miles under your belt this year. Like some people said, make sure to bring actual food to eat along the way, stuff that you know will not upset your stomach too much. Bring your salt pills because you're going to need them, especially with your history of cramping.

Wow you must really like running to want to run 50 miles. I'm glad your construction is almost finished and that your daughter and grandbaby are coming to visit.

Annie ~ you are too cute! I think you'd love running trails. They are gentler on the legs. The nice thing about the Pony Express trail is you cannot get lost on it and you get to have your own crew.

Dale ~ Thanks! I did run 54K of that trail two years ago. But 50miles IS MUCH FARTHER than 54K. Thanks for the words of encouragement. I will make a list of things to pack including the S-cap and lots of yummy food.

Nancy ~ Thanks!

SSF ~ I don't know about *great*! Just hoping to survive.

Dale ~ Thanks for the b'day wish!
