Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Woke up LATE this morning!!!  Boy, I was zonked!  Ran the tidy door to door 8 miler that I ran last Fri.  (2 miles to the canal trail, 5 miles on trail, 1 mile home).

In the process of changing the Garmin back from yesterday's interval workout, must have done something wrong cause it only shows my 8 miler as ONE lap.  I do know that the first warm up mile was 10:30 and the trail miles were in the high 8's as I wanted to keep the trail miles at marathon pace.  Concentrated on form and felt good at that pace.  TT: 1:13:30.  AP: 9:11.  Very pleased with this run, a 4:20 PR from last Fri.

SWTofD for an hour.  Did hip flexors, abductors and adductors exercise in the pool 2 sets 20 rep.

Deck guys are here!  Lotsa house cleaning to do with out of town company arriving on Sat. My bro-in-law and fam are leaving today... :( !  How time flies!!!

From Smooth on Wed, Aug 05, 2009 at 14:55:24 from 71.36.75.185

Teena,

Yep! Prez doesn't mess around! He chose the size, the material and colors. I just nod with anxiety. Yes, at least the guys are outside...poor thing...working under the scorching sun while I was swimming next door. Yay! Can't wait to see you Fri. GOOD LUCK on Finals! LLL LLL LLL LLL LLL

Yesterday I saw the "deck" van at your house and thought of you. Nice 8 mile run with the pool and stuff. The pool sounds so nice right now, perfect day!

Smoothie, you are simply too busy. Nice job on the run.

From Smooth on Wed, Aug 05, 2009 at 15:03:14 from 71.36.75.185

Bec,

Do you know my neighbor? She is the NICEST lady! We're so lucky. Hope you get some free time to go swimming today.

Dale,

Thanks! I'm not half as busy as you are!

From Snoqualmie Ridge Runner on Wed, Aug 05, 2009 at 15:25:32 from 70.56.91.1

Did DG just call you plain and simple? :-)

From Smooth on Wed, Aug 05, 2009 at 15:31:53 from 71.36.75.185

Jeff,

I think he DID!!! Well, he's right! O well, I like plain and simple. :)

You're so astute!

From Snoqualmie Ridge Runner on Wed, Aug 05, 2009 at 15:48:03 from 70.56.91.1

Smooth,

I don't know you, have never met you, but I sure do like you!!

From Smooth on Wed, Aug 05, 2009 at 15:55:36 from 71.36.75.185

Aww Jeff,

You're SO kind! Are you running any Utah races? Would love to meet you at SGM!!!

From MrsFIT on Wed, Aug 05, 2009 at 16:33:12 from 24.2.68.35

Wish I had the energy you have Smoothie, I've been puttering out as of late. Just can't seem to get over the over training "blues"

From DonGardinero on Wed, Aug 05, 2009 at 16:45:55 from 75.162.168.166

There, I changed it to "Simply too busy" LOL. It did look like called her plain and simple. She is anything but plain and simple.

From Kelli on Wed, Aug 05, 2009 at 18:13:46 from 71.219.100.174

NICE JOB!!!! You are such a great runner, really! I keep thinking I want to quit and be done with it all, but then I think of you and how I want to be like you so I keep running!

From Smooth on Wed, Aug 05, 2009 at 18:23:22 from 71.36.75.185

Kristi,

Over train can really zap you in more ways than one. Be sure to have a step down week every 3-4 weeks. You have been riding and running hard. It also helps to have a running partner. Wish I had one myself. Hang in there! You will see the benefits soon. GOOD LUCK on the TRI.

Dale,

I am plain and simple. One of my favorite songs goes like this: It's a gift to be simple, It's a gift to be true...

Kelli,

Thanks for saying that! But you are a GREAT person! I'd rather be a GREAT person who happens to run than a great runner.

It's tough battling with injuries though. Hang in there. Running will be sweet to you again!

From Kelli on Wed, Aug 05, 2009 at 18:26:59 from 71.219.100.174

you ARE both, silly!

From Kathie on Wed, Aug 05, 2009 at 18:58:29 from 207.155.176.10

Nice run smooth...huge pr in just one week you have got to be doing something right!

From Rhett on Wed, Aug 05, 2009 at 20:06:00 from 74.36.34.147

Great run on what looks like a very busy day. Maybe you should just have lots of things planned to get done right after a race to motivate you to finish fast. A 4:20 PR over 8 miles is ginormous!

From kellies on Wed, Aug 05, 2009 at 21:31:35 from 67.222.231.10

You busy woman you...running, swimming, cleaning, deck work, all in one day!! Wowsa!! You are awesome. Hope you enjoyed time with your family (it's always so sad when they leave) and that you enjoy time with your out of town guests coming in as well!!!!

From Smooth on Wed, Aug 05, 2009 at 22:28:11 from 71.35.208.93

Kathie,

I think the lower mileage is helping. Interestingly my mid-week runs are my best.

Rhett,

The "hurrying up" really motivates me to push the pace....hmm, is that why Gary runs so fast. That guy has to get his run done before going to work at 6 am and he travels a lot too. He's been known to get a run in during a lay over at airports.

Kellie,

Hope you had fun with your family reunion last week as well. My bro-in-law's family were here since middle of June and it seems like they were here yesterday. We didn't get to do nearly half the things we used to do.

The out of town guests (5 adults and 2 children) will be here for one week.

From Teena on Wed, Aug 05, 2009 at 22:54:03 from 67.177.20.13

Smooth,

How is the deck coming??

Studying for my final ... can't wait to be done and party with you on Friday!

LOVE YOU!

From Smooth on Wed, Aug 05, 2009 at 23:04:09 from 71.35.208.93

They got the holes dug, cement posts jolts put in and support brackets bolted on the brick wall of the house. They will come back on Mon. to build the deck.

Does this final covers EVERYTHING you've studied on Physiology? You will do great. What time do you go in for the test? I will pray for you. LOVE YOU!

ARe you running a B and B? Sounds fun! Nice blind run without the garmin!

From Smooth on Thu, Aug 06, 2009 at 14:34:45 from 71.35.208.93

NO!!! I'm not running a B&B! I don't even make breakfast for my own family these days. I want to move into a 5 star hotel myself, remember? :)
