Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Went to bed late after a fabulous dinner, ice show and firework display at the Sun Valley Lodge.  At the reception before dinner, they announced all the winners of the skeet shoot, golf tournament and 5K race.  I got a $25 Sport Authority gift card for my division win.  Feet were killing from wearing and walking around in heels.   Got up early anyway to run my MLR before driving home.

Ran on the Wood River/Sun Valley Trail from the condo to Dollar Mountain alongside Elkhorn Rd past St. Luke's hospital (mile 6) where I took a pit stop.  First mile has a 208' elevation gain.  Then some rollers through the golf course for 2 miles and downhill along Twin Creeks.  Beautiful scenery of green valleys and mountains, elevation above 6000' of ski runs, golf course and river crossing.  I hand carried a bottle of water and took 1 gu at the turn around.  Temp was in the mid 50s, occasional sprinkle of shower, very pleasant run.  Legs were trashed on the last 2 miles of ascend and descend.  Good training run for Park City.

Dale ~ It was fun, well worth the 5+ hours drive each way!

Toby ~ Medium long runs are tough to squeeze in even while on vacation. Lukily I made it back in time to shower, pack, check out of the condo and made it home for hubby's dentist appointment at 5:30, phew!

Marc ~ The temp was perfect up at Sun Valley. But coming back to Utah's scorching heat is no fun.

Oh yeah, winning the $25 gift card definitely made the $5 5k *worth it*.

SSF ~ Missed you terribly! when are WE doing lunch?
