Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Went to bed WAY WAY WAY TOO LATE...too much Mother's Day excitement and fun! :) :) :) :)  Had a choice between running early with Karen or later with Wendy and Carolyn...no brainer!  We ran leisurely on the bench loop.  So nice to hear about the good things (running and family happenings) over the weekend!  :) :) :)  Hubby did his own running and continued to improve!  Life is good! :)

Hi there Rob ~ THANKS! Did I ever tell you that I was standing next to you at the Driver's License counter? We both lost our licenses back in March. You had a hair-cut and I wasn't sure if that was you! :)

I'm glad you had a nice Mother's Day. Is your husband a runner or is he just starting to run for you?

Sleeping in is the best part of tapering by FAR!!! It is going to be hard to start getting up in 2 weeks :) Glad you had a fun run!!

Wait a minute did I read that right? Larry is running! How long has he been doing this. I thought he had all these built in excuses about his back or was it his knees that made it so he couldn't run. Tell him to keep up the good work and better yet to join the running blog. He would be a great addition.

SSF ~ :) LLL LLL LLL :)

Nancy ~ my husband is not a runner. He likes to ski, play tennis, work in the garden. He is picking up running just for me. :)

RAD ~ slept in this morning too. But I think that's the end of sleeping in. Got to get used to getting up early since I have to get up SUPER EARLY on Sat. :) Hubs is doing the run/walk thing in his kaki shorts, polo shirts and baseball cap...so cute! :)

Dale ~ I highly doubt he'll be running Boston. But thanks for the cheer! :)

Toby ~ yep, got to take advantage of the taper! :)

Rhett ~ Larry started the jog/walk thing last week. He ran for 3 telephone poles and walked for 2 around our 2.5 miles block. He did that 3 days last week...I went with him on last Fri. This week he's been going everyday and able to jog for 0.5 mile before taking walk breaks. He is starting to really enjoy it. When he first started he had some slight soreness in the calves. Now he doesn't. He also works in the yard every morning after his run. I need to get him some running shoes and clothes though. He wears his garments, polo shirts, Khaki shorts and baseball caps...SO FUNNY! :) But I am very proud of him.

He has double heart valves replacement 7 years ago from a life-threatening endocarditis. He suffered heart failure and a mini stroke while we were in Boston 2004 (the week right after the Boston Marathon). I didn't know anything about running at the time. I started running to loose weight and stay healthy so I could take care of him. He is the reason I try to BQ so we can celebrate our anniversary in Boston every year and to commemorate his recovery from heart surgeries. He has two artificial heart valves that tick rather loudly! :) I am very grateful that he is healthy and is now picking up running! He will never join the running blog. He doesn't even text! :)
