Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!! 

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Very windy morning!!! Took Symbicort before heading out.  We (Karen, Wendy & Carolyn) headed east to the canal trail behind Smith and ran south down the unpaved road to the bottom of Dry Creek.  My legs were a bit wobbly.  My friends helped me cross the creek, then we ran up the other side of Dry Creek, southeast to Highland following the unpaved canal trail to road east of Highland Park.  Stopped at Mtn Ridge JrH to drink and Gu; then headed west on the road and back on the trail to Dry Creek.  Can't wait for the trail and bridge to be completed...it will be SO NICE!!!

Legs very heavy and tired, breathing labored, lots of spitting and nose blowing.  This allergy thing is so miserable!  If weren't for my girl friends' company and help, I wouldn't have made it.  I'm really worried about Boston. :(

Helped hubby spread landscape rocks along the 4'x200' fence line...back-breaking job!!! Wendy was so kind to come help us.  My knees, legs, feet and arms are now very sore.   I think I need a new body! :)

Great run today. I can't wait for when I come to visit in the summer and I will be able to run the canal trail with you. :) It will be so nice!

Is that creek crossing just a plank? I think I ran there a couple of weeks ago. It's 9-10 miles from my house and I'd been running too long to negotiate that nonsense. What a pain.

That was me who honked at you this morning(Thurs) by your house. I was taking the kids to their ortho appt. again and they wanted to drive by our old house. Even though you may have been struggling lately, you looked really smooth and easy for your run.

I think you need a rest day! Don't worry so much about Boston. Take a breather and recover. Remember how the other week you posted on YOUR blog that the biggest thing people do wrong in their training is the lack of recovery? I listened to those words and I think you should too! Yes, I'm being a big meanie. Just call me HELGA! :)

I can't wait for you to be in Utah this summer and run the new trails. You will LOVE it!

Chad ~ Yes, we walked the plank! Hehehe! It was a short crossing...I'm a wimp...I don't like falling in wet rocks! You'll have to come run the pathway when it's paved and the bridge is built over the creek.

Kirsten ~ I thought that was you!!! I saw your smiling face thru your car windshield! Thanks for the "HI THERE" honk. It made me smile! I was just heading out and feeling some shin pain at that moment. Heheh! :)

Paul ~ I know...I need to be PATIENT!!! If I didn't have 3 marathons on the docket, I would've just chilled.

Rachel ~ I know I need a rest day. I keep telling myself that this is the last week to build back up whatever mileage I can then I can rest and taper. I guess I shouldn't be so stressed over Boston...but IT IS BOSTON...and I don't want to have a sufferfest there.
