Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

The 1st metatarsal on my left foot was really achy yesterday and this morning.  Perhaps from the old Inspire 4.   I think the last two day's *non-recovery* runs did me in.  I decided to run with my friends, Wendy, Carolyn and Mary who are training for the Thanksgiving Point Half at end of the month.   They needed to do 4 easy with hill.  We ran down and up 3rd west hill.  It is one mile long with elevation of 140'.

Man, O man, left knee and right calf were tight and sore.  Thought about running another mile on my own at a little faster pace to loose them up.  But it was funner to stay and visit with my friends under beautiful blue sky.  4 mi in 40:00 exactly.

AM/PM yoga.  Hope the legs recover in the next couple days.

You are just going through taper madness your legs will be fine!

From DonGardinero on Wed, Apr 14, 2010 at 14:02:27 from 75.162.176.191

Are these phantom pains from the taper or are they real pains? Be careful. Don't do anything crazy this close to the big show.

Get on a foam roller, if you can. Great build up. You will do great.

Sounds like a rest day is in order. I'm taking one tomorrow. You can join me.

YES YOU ARE DONE WITH RUNNING THIS WEEK BUT A COUPLE OF 10:30 pace miles. If you have stored up energy read something utterly boring and fall asleep in the sun.

From RAD on Wed, Apr 14, 2010 at 18:32:13 from 67.172.229.125

Glad you got a good run in with friends, I hope those little aches go away with some good stretching and a long flight to Bean town! :)

From Snoqualmie Ridge Runner on Wed, Apr 14, 2010 at 21:59:47 from 24.16.49.114

just stay slow sister smoothness...no need to go fast now...there will be 26.2 miles available to go fast on Monday...incidently I'm reading a book about the American Revolution and currently at the part where Boston was under lockdown by Gen. Gage.

From MarcE on Wed, Apr 14, 2010 at 23:31:31 from 206.225.68.186

Those pains were your legs crying out for more punishment -- they weren't used to you running so slowly or for such a short period of time. :) You'll be just fine.

I'm going crazy with this taper. THANKS everyone for your reassuring encouragement. I will stick with the plan. Man, I have so much to do to get ready for the trip still and running out of time! :)

From Kelli on Thu, Apr 15, 2010 at 14:02:28 from 71.219.92.128

Your legs will be great!

While I was running today I was thinking about how the week before a race it seems like every part of me starts to hurt. It ALWAYS happens. So, ignore the aches and pains, I think they are all PHANTOMS of some sort!
