Long-Term Running Goals:

Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Ran with Karen, Carolyn and Wendy down 3rd west then up on rail trail.  The rail trail is now connected to the newly paved canal trail up to Bull River, YAHOO!!!  Can't wait for the entire canal trail to be paved then we will have limitless trail to run.  :)

Forgot to charge the Garmin so no splits, probably mid 9's on the uphill.   Legs felt great!

Off to shopping with hubby♥ for the renovation and some Cougars garb! :)

I can't believe how quickly you recover and are off and going again! I wish I could have Smooth legs :) Maybe by the time I'm your age I will!

I'm glad the trails are all coming together!! They are building a new one to go near the new highway too aren't they?

fast recovery, smooth! nice job. i drove SR-92 on sunday and it appears as though things are finally coming together! (although the number of orange barrels is still comical). it will be so nice to have access to all those trails when it is all complete.

Very excited for the canal to be done too!! Maybe when I get fast enough we can met up on the canal.

Nice run Smooth.

I'm excited to run the rail trail. It will be so nice to have a nice trail to run, and close by to home. :-)

Rachel ~ You have better than Smooth legs; you have FAST legs. My legs are hairless smooth...were that way when I was YOUR age! :)

Yep, the new one near the new highway is the canal trail. They buried or piped the canal, graded it and is now paving it. It's not part of the Timpanogos Hwy project but it's headed by my neighbor's company.

allie ~ the orange barrels are officially the Utah state flowers, they are grown natively and rather proliferate...like weeds, they pluck some off and others pop up elsewhere making it a confusing maze for drivers. That Timp Hwy (SR92) is supposed to be completed this Fall...hmm, you think?

callie ~ Hi there how are you? I was thinking about you the Sat we ran with Toby at AF. We definitely need to meet up on the canal, it is supposed to go all the way to the mouth of the canyon in Orem! :)

Jon ~ Me too. I can't wait for it be connected north past Cabella and may be eventually hook up with the Porter Rockwell Trail in Draper. But it looks like for the time being it will at least run along Bull River...SO CLOSE to home!!! Speaking of which...when are you and Kelly gonna run with me and the ladies here? We run everyday in the hood! :)
