Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Ran to and in Oatley Park today.  It's been awhile since I ran there.  Ran from Oatley Parade to the east lower loop to the Webster Peak Lookout to west trail and ponds.  I think next time IF I have more time, I'll explore beyond and connect to Oatley Heights Park from the ponds' trails.  Ran up to Bay Road and back on west side of Peninsula via Riley and Wonoona PRD back to Oatley Parade.  Nice Spring weather, 17C, calm, sunny blue sky.  Saw heaps of birds, dog walkers, cyclists and handful or runners.

This weekend Sydney is celebrating the Navy's Centennial.  We're going to the City to view the Naval vessels, battle ships and the light show and spectacular fireworks over Sydney Harbor tonight.  FUN!!!! :) :) :)

I have gained so much weight (too much yummy Aussie food and no time to run) that I'm just pretending to be a runner.  I no longer wear my Garmin but do take my iPhone everywhere I go (never know when my missionaries call).  Here are some pix I took with my Phone on today's run/jog. Missing and thinking about you all running SGM.  It would've been my 9th SGM...sigh!  But I am sure I will miss this beautiful part of the world when I return home in three years.

Nice photos Ms. Smooth! Cool looking trail? Hey, is Larry getting in any physical fitness training of any kind? Wow. You missed what would have been your 9th SGM, and.....bummer, the next one would have been your guaranteed entry into the race and the 10 year club. You all be careful out there and keep up the good works!!!!

Yeah for a Smooth update! Love your pictures! Karen and I just got into the Ogden Marathon. I got a hotel room so we won't have to get so early :). Or in case it rains :).

I had an interesting experience running with a gal last week. I'll have to tell you the long version someday. But I'm grateful for your example. I told a Tim when I got home, " if Smooth taught me anything about running, it was to make as many running friends as possible". You're the best!!

Smooth, that looks like a beautiful place to run. I'm glad you get a chance to sneak in a run here and there.

Oh yeah Smooth. I'm teaching seminary now and I taught the class your SMILE acronym and told the class all about you and Larry when we got to that verse in 2 Nephi.

Can I PLEASE come run with you?!? I missed you at SGM this year...okay, miss you all the time. BUT, the work you're doing there is incredible! I am simply impressed with all that you do and I know the reach of your influence will be felt world wide!

Hi there Slick~ So good to hear from you. I see that you're training for Boston. So envious of you! Larry and I are doing great. He's hardly doing any exercise though.

Toby ~ I'm so excited for you to run another PR at Ogden! :) I sure miss running with you and Karen. I hardly run any more and when I do, it is always by my lonesome self.

Rhett ~ I bet you are the BEST seminary teacher ever. Those kids are so lucky to have you. Tell Doone I say hello. :)

RAD ~ Yes, please come run with me! You'd love running here, hilly, green, gorgeous place. I miss you!

Nancy ~ thanks. I see you are keeping active as ever. Good on you! :)
