Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Not feeling well this morning, woke up with a headache, sore achy body!  Debated whether to shake it off with a run.  Finally went out at 8:30.  Temp was in the mid 60s, sunny sunny sky.  Every step was painful!!! STINK!!!  Stopped every half mile to stretch!  Look at these painfully slow miles: 11:15, 10:19, 10:01, (last 0.2 at 9:47)  Sheesh, should have stayed in bed and slurp Slurpee instead!

Forecast for Park City tomorrow says 57 at 6am and 74 at 10am, sunny w/ SE wind @ 8-10mph!  Looks like it's gonna be one long long long painful training run for me!!!!

GOOD LUCK y'all racing Hobble Creek and PCM tomorrow!  Off to tackle the errands!

Thanks for the encouragement Cal! You have a way to put a smile on my face! :)

From Teena Marie on Fri, Aug 20, 2010 at 11:56:47 from 208.54.86.70

No no no. Go to bed right now. This can not be. Do all those things you have been telling me to do. What can I do? I feel helpless nere in PC.

Ry says you need to call Poo Face.

I love you, SSF.

From Maurine/Miles on Fri, Aug 20, 2010 at 11:59:06 from 63.255.172.2

Look for me at the start in PC. I'm trying to find someone who can tape up my knee tomorrow with KTape. Do you know how to do it?

From Smooth on Fri, Aug 20, 2010 at 12:10:46 from 174.23.203.161

Maurine ~ Teena is expert in KT taping! I know how to do the one she taped on my knee last year! I'm going to be there at 5:30 to pick up my bib so I will stay inside the Field house or line up at the pops. I will look for you! I'm excited to see you! Dang! What's up with you knee?

SSF ~ If I call Poo Face, all I get is the voice mail! I think I caught Valerie's bugs! Bad timing!

From Teena Marie on Fri, Aug 20, 2010 at 12:18:08 from 208.54.86.54

I always think it is good luck to have a bad run right before a race...not sure why I just do!

Good luck feeling better by the time you start tomorrow!

From flatlander on Fri, Aug 20, 2010 at 13:05:09 from 198.207.244.102

Good luck tomorrow, but don't hesitate to slow down if you aren't feeling good, especially with all that heat.

From Teena Marie on Fri, Aug 20, 2010 at 15:28:27 from 75.169.254.20

I hope you are resting!!!! :)

From RivertonPaul on Fri, Aug 20, 2010 at 17:05:24 from 67.42.27.114

Smooth, get feeling better immediately.

From JulieC on Fri, Aug 20, 2010 at 18:08:36 from 71.219.47.210

Smooth, this should be no surprise, at least it is not to me about myself....whenever there is an impending "race" my body starts to crumble even though I am certain my mind has no knowledge of it...so of course I am "getting sick" when in reality the body is trying to send the message to the brain that put the whole "this is nothing but a measly 26.2 mile training run" on the back burner. Currently I too felt sick on this mornings run and my PF was acting up with a vengeance. Ain't stopping me, my mind will conquer this and I KNOW YOURS will too!! Good luck girlfriend. I hope you can at least sleep a few good Zzzzzs tonight : DDD

From RAD on Fri, Aug 20, 2010 at 18:37:40 from 67.172.229.125

Rest well, take care and have a fun run tomorrow! I hope you feel well enough to tackle it all. Oh, and I feel the exact same way as Julie before a race! WHY?!? I sure hope this is just pre-race jitters!!

From Smooth on Fri, Aug 20, 2010 at 21:56:36 from 174.23.203.161

Thanks everyone for your kind words, encouragement and support!

I wish it was pre-race jitters! I never intend to race PCM. Was hoping to run it well, better than last year's time. Now I just hope to finish w/ some dignity.

Have been running a low grade fever all day. took couple of Tylenol. Tried resting but the sour tummy wouldn't let me.

From JulieC on Fri, Aug 20, 2010 at 22:39:11 from 67.41.189.81

Nothing like a good 26.2 miles of clean air to release the toxins to!! sleep well.I am so excited to see you pull thru this (in words on the blog)...wish I could be there!!

From Teena Marie on Sun, Aug 22, 2010 at 23:28:15 from 174.52.45.85

Where is your race report, SSF??

It says that you have one ... but when you push the link nothing is there!!!

How are you feeling?

School tomorrow ... blah!

From Smooth on Sun, Aug 22, 2010 at 23:59:42 from 174.23.203.161

SSF ~ Just posted it. Took me awhile to load the pix.

Julie ~ You were so right! The clean air and long run was just what I needed to detox! THANKS!

From DonGardinero on Mon, Aug 23, 2010 at 12:14:48 from 75.162.160.32
