Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Last night Larissa gave me some goodd tips on treating the cough and insomnia:  drank warm tea made of clover honey and lemon essential oil (didn't have any lemon on hand) to soothe the irritated throat,  rub peppermint essential oil on throat and chest to ease breathing along with Symbicort inhaler to bring down inflammation, rub lavender essential oil on the bottom of feet.  For the first time in over two weeks, I was able to get some sleep, still waken to coughs but able to fall back to sleep.

AM:  Ran easy with Karen and Wendy...lots of spitting, coughing, blowing nose...at least the ribs and sternum not hurting as bad.

PM:  RAD came over and bestowed my Boston 2013 medal on me.  It made me cry.  :)  I left Boston early the next morning without picking up my medal so Lowell used his lawyer magic and got it for me.  It was so good to see RAD and her two little boys.  Nice break from cleaning/dejunking of my house which is an ongoing major project right now.

Evening:  went to the pool with the intent to swim, only managed to get 10 laps because the leisure pool was crowded with children and families.

I'm sorry you have such a bad cold. Hope you feel better soon.

You are too darn awesome to be sick like that! Wish I could have been a fly on the wall when RAD gave you that medal. I'm sure it was a special moment for both of you.

Rest well and get better soon. At least with all those essential oils you'll be smelling good!

Those coughs are the worst! They linger forever.

Glad you got your Boston medal, RAD is awesome to bring it to you :) Get better soon!!!

Oh SSF ... I am so sorry that you are feeling so cruddy. I think you and Rylee are suffering the same type of sickness. She was officially diagnosed with asthma on Friday and put on two different inhalers. Then on Sunday had some serious issues and the on call doc had to get involved and put her on a z-pak and prednisone. She has been up all night coughing for about a week now as well. You poor kiddoes!!! I will have to try the lavender feet thing with her. She has already been downing the herb teas with added honey and lemon.

You amaze me that you are still up doing everything. Hopefully you can get some rest. Luvs.

Smooth, I'm so glad you received your finishers medal. How are you still running with as sick as you are? Amazing!

From Smooth on Wed, May 01, 2013 at 23:18:53 from 65.130.2.239

Nancy ~ thanks! I hope and wish this cold/cough/gunk would go away.

QP ~ I wish you were here with your sis. Last time you came to my house, I felt so loved and comforted! :)

Carina ~ Please tell me you don't have the same stubborn cough too?!

SSF ~ yep, am afraid Rylee and I have the same sickness. If I don't feel any better tomorrow, I'll call the doctor. I hope Rylee gets better real soon with your loving tender care. Luvs to you! So happy you are done with final and only have one more semester left to go. :) :) :)

Rhett ~ I'm glad I received the medal too. I have no luck finding a Boston official jacket though. The Expo did not have xs size and I was told to order it on-line. But there is none to be found anywhere now.

Shouldn't have run on Monday. I did not run the last two days, this hacking and coughing makes it very difficult to breath and run. I'm happy to hear you have been running and working out! :)
