Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

It's been three months since my last blog entry.  Life's been crazy busy.  It is summer here in Sydney with temperatures in the 70s-90s F and super humid.  I have not given up running yet. Some mornings I get up early and run on the TM for 30 min.  On the weeks that we have airport arrivals and departures, we leave home very early which means no running on those days. On Christmas and New Year, I ran to Como Leisure Ground.  Most Saturdays I run to Oatley Park.  I think my pace is 12mm these days :( But like I said I haven't given up yet.:)

On a bright note, our little swimming pool has taken 6 months to be fixed and cleaned, JUST IN TIME!!! We swam last Sat. and today.  It is a VERY tiny pool! :) :) :)

I have gained a LOT of weight - 12 lbs!!!  Aaaagh!!!  This has got to stop because my clothes don't fit me any more.  Hubby said it's cheaper to loose weight than to buy new clothes! :) :) :) Besides, I don't have time to shop for clothes!  I just need to eat less!  So hard though, because the food here is SO so SO delicious and SO many varieties and SO abundance. Also, I need to learn how to read the food labels...instead of calories, it's "energy" in some metric units.  Does anyone know how many calories is in an average size mango?!

Here's to a healthy, happy, fantastic new year!  Cheers!!!! :)

Smooth, So good to hear from You! Please tell Pres hello from Kelly and I. You must have been eating Aussie food all your life, because you have always had a ton of "energy"!

From Smooth on Sat, Jan 11, 2014 at 04:52:53 from 121.44.135.156

Hi there Jon and Kelly!!! SO SO SO good of you to "drop by". :) Pres sends his love to you two. How are you doing? We sure miss you!

Hi Smooth. Doone says Hi also. Looks like your pool is beautiful. I bet that is tempting to the missionaries. Nice that you get to swim though.

A quick google search says there are about 135 calories in a medium mango. Some sights think a medium mango is bigger though and say as much as 207 calories.

I love hearing about your mission. Keep up the great work.

135 cals in a regular sized mango. But you can break it down to 18 cals an ounce...Good to hear from you, keep up the good work there in Auzzie land.

Smooth...I really need to catch up on the lives of my dear friends. I have no idea how you ended up in Australia, but I hope you and Larry are enjoying ourselves. I totally understand the clothes not fitting thing! :)

Hi Smooth. It's good to hear that your are sneaking in some running still!

My kids were just asking for mangoes with black rice but mangoes are not in season, at least in the northern hemisphere. Are you getting mangoes down there now? We're jealous.

Marc, They are on a mission for their church.

SMOOTH SMOOTH SMOOTH!!! :) :) :)

I had no idea you were posting again! I haven't spent much time on the blog!!!

I LOVE your pool!!! It makes me think of your cute blog entries when you were taking swimming lessons from the neighbor girl!! :)

I hope you are not stressing too much about the 12 lbs. I am sure you are beautiful!! But I do know how much you hate shopping! :)

Anyway, so happy to see you on here and so happy that you haven't given up on running.

Dang, now I want a mango!!! The last batch I bought from Costco was on New Year's Eve and they were all icky!!! Perfectly ripe mangoes!!! Sounds like heaven!

Love you!!!!

Rhett ~ G'day to you and Doone!!! :). Are you getting excited for Phoenix? Sure wish I could be there to cheer you on! I'll be there in spirit! :)

Slick ~ how's the Boston training? Is this your 10th Boston? Oh I miss Boston SO much. It's my all time favorite place and race!

Marc ~ HELLO there!!! SO good to hear from you!! We have been in Sydney since June 30th 2013 serving a three years mission for our church along with 220 young missionaries. We love it here! :) How are you? How is your family? Still running with your buddies?

Fly!!!! Hi there mate!!! The mangoes here are SO delish with lotsa varieties! Mango with black rice sounds yummy! We buy them by the case and eat one a day...mmmm! All the fruits with stone (seed) are in seasons right now! I have never eaten such huge nectarines, peaches, plums, cherries in my life. They are picked just ripe, juicy and sweet! There are specialty fruits/veggies shops all over the suburbs. Oh, and hot bread shops (bakeries) with every imaginable breads and pastries, floral shops and multi-cultural eateries.... You need to bring your family down here to play! :)

Hi there Teena!!!! I have the biggest, perfectly ripe, prettiest mango right here with your name on it! Even the sweet smell is irresistible!!! It is so smooth with just enough firmness you can eat it with a spoon! So c'mon down and get out of that Utah icky air! This place is like San Diego but bettah! Golf, surf, scuba diving, hiking, trail running, biking, hangliding, you name it, all right heah! :)

The pool is lovely! I can swim across in one breathe! Hehe! And yes, still running a little!

How's your Boston training? Have you booked a room and flight already? Wish I could be there! Love you! :)
