Long-Term Running Goals:

Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

I got 8 EIGHT hours of sleep!  WOW!!!  finally felt decent to want to exercise.  Karen picked me up to go to the Legacy Center.  We only had 45 min as Karen was leaving to go to her daughter's soccer game down at Dixie.

Did 2.5 miles on the elliptical, 4.5 resistance, that must be very easy!  The legs actually felt good.  Right calf muscles still tender to touch.

After I got home,  I did 6 circuits of Pftiz CSE, stretching the quads and calves in between circuits.

AM/PM yoga.

Question:  I want to run either the Valley of Fire or Mesquite Marathon on Nov. 20. Hubby has meeting that weekend and can't take me.  He doesn't want me to go alone.  If there's any lady or husband/wife going to either of these marathons...I'd love it if I can have travel company!  THANK YOU!!!!  :)

I'm glad to see you're not out running either! I thought for sure I'd check up on you and you'd be out for a nice easy 5 miler! Makes me not feel like such a baby, thanks :)

Both of those races sound like fun, but I'll be at OBX (outer Banks, NC marathon) the weekend before. If you want to come with ME I'd LOVE for you to tag along :)

hey Smoothie, check with Alisa from the forum. She might be doing Valley of Fire, but I'm not positive.

You are amazing. You just keep on going!!!

I would love to and am totally bummed about having to work every other weekend and since I have Thanksgiving weekend off I work the 20th!! and the 19th and 21st to make it even harder. : ((( Melanieb is considering it.

Bec ~ The ellipticals at the LC aren't the best for my short legs. I can't even ride their upright bikes. I am going to get me an elliptical, just have to find time to shop for one.

Rachel ~ I am not a diehard like you. This recovery is gonna be much longer b/c of the charlie horse.

I considered running the Rim Rock Marathon in Colorado that weekend (Nov 13) after he told me he has a special training meeting for stake presidents and bishops on Nov 20. Then he found out he has world wide training (new church handbooks) on Nov 13. He feels bad about that. You know how supportive and protective he is of me! :)

Dale ~ Thanks! I had already PM'd Alisa last week. She's not going b/c of family stuff. However I PM'd Canyon yesterday and she said she would go with me.

Julie ~ Thank you! I don't know how you fit in everything you do especially having to work weekends.

I just realized the leadership training was that weekend as well. The marathon is on Sunday (we're spoiled here in Utah!) and so I will be able to attend the meeting in NC - yay for WORLD wide training :) Good luck with recovery and finding an elliptical for home.

I think Leslie is planning to run Mesquite. Talk to her.
