Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Family visiting = lots of family fun = terrible schedule = naughty eating & little sleep = messed up training!

I really wanted to run up Suncrest this morning trying to take advantage of the unusual cool temp.  But once again the plan was foiled by staying up late and not getting up early enough.

By the time I got up, only had 90 min for a run since I have a meeting to go to.  Wendy and Carolyn rang my doorbell just as I was getting ready to head out for a MLR.  Wasn't planning to run with them but friends are more important.  So ran 3 w/Wendy...so fun listening to her recap of the Yosemite hike with her hubby.  Ran 5 with Carolyn...may have convinced her to do the RHPC this Sat.  After dropping her off I turned around to run the hills.  If I had more time or carry fluids I would have run the intended 13.  But by mile 8 I was parched and spent...had not had breakfast or drank anything...so headed home for a total 10 in 1:36:12.  AP: 9:36.  Legs were clunky.

Debating whether to run DNews Marathon.

Nice work keeping up training while the family is here and life is crazy! That alone is difficult. You are so wonderful to run with friends and bag your plans - I guess that is why we all love you so much!!

I say bag the full and just do the 10K :)

Running carb depleted makes you tough. Just don't do it too often.

From Smooth on Wed, Jul 07, 2010 at 15:35:42 from 174.23.191.197

THANKS everyone! You are what motivates me to keep running!

Rhett ~ It was poor planning or lack thereof that I didn't eat or drink. Won't make that mistake again.

Bec ~ Jeff forgot his camera; so I didn't get to "see" all the fun you guys had down at Havasupail. I'm glad you all had a great time. Sure miss you! But it was so cool to see you sped by on your bike this morning.

Hi Mike ~ How are you? Yes, I have run DNews, in 2007 and 2008. Last year I ran the 10K instead b/c of a nagging ITB. DNews really trashes your legs so I dunno if I should do it since I want to get a course PR at Park City which is 4 weeks after DNews.

Kelly ~ I borrowed that word from AndyB. My definition of *clunky* is heavy legs, opposition of smooth running.

Leslie ~ I haven't signed up yet. I will now that you girls did. Hope they're not full.
