Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Nice 5k run - oh the joy of low miles and tapering! I hope you have a great lunch and visiting teaching! Can't wait to see your smile this Saturday! We are having a Swig party after the marathon (Swig is a little drink/cookie shop on the top of Tabernacle) so come join us and we can all celebrate with sugar cookies!

Hey, any pre-race get togethers this year? Anyone trying to meet up pre-race?

Smooth, have fun with your friends today, so what are compression sleaves? I think Rachel mentioned them too. Are they for your legs? I have VERY BAD vericous veins, would that be something I should look into?

From Smooth on Wed, Sep 29, 2010 at 17:05:32 from 67.41.235.104

amber ~ thanks for the invite! That sounds fun and yummy. We've been invited to a post race bash/ lunch so most likely will not make it to the swig. But hopefully I will see you at the wasatchrunning center booth and will shout my heart out for you...You Gram Slam Champ!

Jon ~ a bunch of us are meeting at the second to the last fire pit...the ones farthest away from the start on race morning. But nothing's been planned on Fri.

Rachel ~ we went to Cafe Rio for lunch then shopping at Fleets Feet. I got me a handheld bottle by camel bak that I will use for Goblin Valley. it was fun trying out all these newest running gear and gadgets.

Leslie ~ You will love compression sleeves. You wear them in your lower legs so look like knee high socks. I think they help w/ blood return, holding the fatigue muscles up nicely. I have been wearing them for all my marathons this summer.

Just wanted to wish you a huge GOOD LUCK from me. Have fun and enjoy the race. I am so sad I won't be there with Larry to cheer you and everyone else on. I will be there in spirit. Write your race report ASAP so I can get all the juicy or not so juicy details. Have a wonderful weekend.
