Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

GREAT JOB Smooth! I do not know how you can run after a long day of skiing! You must be exhausted!!

I practiced your "downhill skiing" technique today while I ran down the canyon and it sure does make you fast! It kind of scares me!!! Thanks for the tip.

YOu and Kelli and both super human, how do you ski and then run like the wind???

Love and Kisses, Granny

Lady Smooth, you ran a 10k? After skiing? I don't think that would be possible for me.

From Kathie on Tue, Feb 17, 2009 at 11:51:34

Wow Smooth what a great day you had! Are you legs sore at all?

From rhett on Tue, Feb 17, 2009 at 15:15:16

Skiing and a 10K. You put us all to shame with how dedicated you are. Great job.

From Rachel on Tue, Feb 17, 2009 at 15:28:20

What an awesome day! I usually can't move after I ski - let alone run 6 miles, I need some of your dedication in my veins! Great job keeping on track.

Kelli,

Good job on your hilly run. Keep practicing your downhill technique. Your fear will be replaced by that exhilarating feeling of "flying" down the mountain. I still haven't overcome the fear of falling flat on my face yet...I'm working on it.

Leslie,

Love and kisses right back at ya. My goal is to keep skiing so I can ski with my grandkids.

Amber,

My hubby is the expert skier in the family. He drags me up the mountain every chance he gets. I refuse to do the hard stuff (moguls and steep runs). I have to remind him and myself that I have bigger priority ahead in April.

Kristel,

It was fun especially when we do it as a family.

Bec,

Look at you...you ran 7 miles BEFORE skiing. Thanks for coming. We had a most wonderful time. You're an amazing skier, dancer and runner. Too bad I couldn't "watch" you ski more. I was too chicken to do the hard runs. I hope you had as much fun as the boys. Can't wait for our long run together this Sat.

Teena,

THANKS! What did you do? How did the tests turn out? Hope you had a great Pres. Day with your family.

Kathie,

Nope, my legs are not sore at all. My quads used to kill after the first day of skiing. I think the running plus skiing only the green/blue runs have strengthened my quads so they don't bother me at all.

Dale, Rhett and Rachel,

It was a nice diversion and family time. I ski only the green runs, easy stuff. The new lift takes only 5 min to get to the top so I get in a lot of runs leisurely. It was relaxing and wonderful to breath fresh mountain air.
