Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

AM:  No running today.  Hubby and I went for a nice walk around our 2 miles neighborhood block, talking, reflecting on our 35 years of marriage, what a beautiful place we live in, the blessings of raising our children who all turn out to be such wonderful, terrific human beings, who love the Lord.

PM:  Today is a very very special day.  We were set apart as mission president and companion in Elder Oaks office.  We were able to have close family members accompany us:  my husband's 87 year old mother, his older sister, his younger brother who happens to be in town from Hong Kong, our son, Jeff and his wife Jen, and Bryan.  Elder Oaks assisted by Elder Clayton set apart my husband as mission president.  Then my husband joined them as Elder Clayton set me apart as full time missionary and companion to the mission president for our mission.  Very special blessings were pronounced.  Tears of joy and gratitude flowed freely.  We could feel our Father's love and the power of the Holy Ghost witnessing to us that these are His appointed servants.  Most importantly I felt an overwhelming confirmation that the Lord has prepared us for a time such as this, and that this is His work.  I am humbled that the Lord would put such confidence and trust in me and pour out His abundance blessings upon me/us.  :)

Evening:  we had a special Mother's Day celebration to honor my mother-in-law with a home cooked dinner and a small program of song and words from my husband and I and we presented her with letters written by my children, her grandchildren.   My mother-in-law is an amazing lady, an immigrant from China in 1949 and settled in Provo with her husband.  She raised four wonderful children in the Gospel with faith and humility.  I am convinced that it is through her example, faith and prayers that all her posterity are safe and well, physically and spiritually.  :)

Smooth: that is such an awesome experience. And you've got 3 fantastic years of experiences just ahead! Still, it's going to be weird with you gone for that long...

Maynard ~ Hi! How's my good buddy doing? I'm going to really miss seeing you on the trail or at races the next 3 years! :(

Nancy ~ yes, it was a most memorable and sacred experience. Sadly I will probably have very little time to blog or at least in reading everyone's blog. But I will always treasure the friendships here. Thank you for your kindness and generous words. :)

Personally, I think you'll be so busy the next 3 years you won't have time to miss us, or the running, too much. I would love to have been a missionary under you and the Pres's leadership and guidance.
