Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

I haven't signed up for Orphan Hope! I don't know what to do... There is another marathon I really want to do March 3rd.

I could come and do Orphan as a long run. Do you think that will destroy me for a good race in March?

Bec ~ same question as allie, are you planning on the Woodlands Marathon? Both marathons are a 13.1 loop repeated twice. Orphan is completely on forest trail. It will not destroy you for a great Woodlands marathon if you run it carefully as a fun run. It is 3 weeks out so plenty of time to taper down.

Scott ~ I am worry about the elevation as well as what the trail condition given we've been having such crazy weather that it might be muddy or icy treacherous. What do you think? Are you running the Buffalo and what distance?

Nancy ~ you always say the nicest things! :)

allie ~ thanks! I'm running the Orphan Hope because I wanted to go visit my daughter on her birthday and it just so happens that there's a marathon around that time within driving distance from her home. This marathon also benefits the Orphan International. :)

SSF ~ the year of the dragon is gonna be wonderful. L&MY!!! :)
