Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!! 

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Woke up bright and early at 4 and couldn't go back to sleep.  What the heck, might as well go for my scheduled 20 miler.  THANKS to Teena's organizing a "chump" group run, I called her and got the driving direction to the meeting place. 

It was fun to see Shimelle, her brother, "Peach", Julie and a groupd of great "chumps".  I knew right away that I was going to be the sweeper of this group; but was concerned that I would be lost.  Everyone took turn staying with me for the first 7 or so miles.  THANKS, you guys/gals are AWESOME!!!

We got back to the church just shy of 12 miles.  We had forgotten to restart the Garmin after taking a drink from a park so lost track of about 1 mile.  It was a humid morning with temp staying in the 70's.  I lost about 2 pounds of sweat!  I am tired; but otherwise feeling great.  20 miles ~ average pace 9:42.  Fastest at 9:00, slowest at 10:20.

Teena was so very very very kind and patient to run with me for 20 miles.  I treasure every second of the run with her.  I just hope I didn't ruin her body by running her longest and slowest miles since rehabing.  She is amazing!

THANK YOU my dear soul sistah for pulling, pushing and encouraging me the whole way!!!  I would not have made it without you today!!!  I LOVE YOU lots and lots and lots!!!!

Great training run. It sounds like you had a lot of energy the day after a fast 10k, good job!

I have a question for you. Do you think if I ran the PC Marathon as a training run that it would hurt my TOU Marathon time? I think that would be a nice training/long run race thing, but what do you think?

Seriously,,, I was so looking forward to seeing you and Mark on the trail yesterday. Sure miss you two. Mark was the one who drove me to the first Chump run last year. May be next time.

Park City will be a PERFECT training run for TOU. It's 4 weeks out, plenty of time for recovery. It's a small race. The course is not a PR course so no need to RACE it. The elevation gain plus altitude prepare your legs and lungs for sure. Because of its small field, you might be tempted to race it to win in your AG. That's my only concern that you would RACE hard and risk injury. This course is tough to get into a rhythm/groove. It has a variety of terrain and gorgeous scenery. So take advantage of that and treat it as a training run with benefits. The support is awesome, start/finish area is by a field house, very convenient. Better sign up right away, it's filling up fast. It will be so FUN to have you there. Plus, your family can cheer you along the course. You can ride up with us if you like. CONGRATS on your win at DNews 10K!!!

Thank you for the comment Smooth, I think I will be signing up for PC this week. I have ran PC before, so I am familiar with the course, one of my favorites. Last time I raced it I was an hour late, so I kind of got the brunt of the heat. But I completely see the advantages of this race, I just don't know if I trust myself to go SLOW. It would be so awesome riding up with you, and enjoying that day.

I need to tell you that 7th out of 71 is very AMAZING, maybe we should do more 10ks? MMMM, maybe not....

Hey Darling!!! It's been so long since I've checked up on you and I'm missing my Smooth moments. But here I am and now I find out what an awesome 10k you ran this week! Great Job! THat sounds like so much fun and I"m so jealous you got to watch and cheer for Allie coming in, I can only imagine that moment, it must have been incredible :)Also Great Job on your 20 miler the day AFTER your race!
