Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

What a gorgeous day, sunny blue sky, calm, Temp in the high 30s.  Wendy was so gracious to run with me.  We got a late start because I couldn't decide what to wear/bring.  Whatever happens to those days when I just laced up my shoes and went for 10-13 miles in the middle of the week w/o carrying anything.  :)

Anyway, I ended up wearing tights, l/s top, light jacket with one flask of water, a gu, and cell phone.   We did the walk/run/2min/8min per Pfitz's R2RafterSF.  Got to the *fountain of youth* during the run cycle and stopped the watch at exactly 1:00:00 and 5.4 mile.  Quickly used the bathroom, ate gu, drank and turned back home with the same walk/run/2min/8min.  All the uphills were in the run cycle...nice...but sure could feel the lack of lung power!  When we got to the house we still had 2 min left on the run cycle so we kept running and finished with 3 min walk stopping the watch at mile 11.25 in 2:03:00 with AP of 10:57.  YAY!!!  Legs and feet felt great.  Am so so so SO grateful the 足 is healing and I am able to 走.  :) :) :)  THANKS Wendy for being such a wonderful, faithful, loyal friend keeping me company with uplifting conversations and from the temptation to run farther! :) :) :) :)

Going to do some yard work, shopping, preparing for Sunday's family party at my house!  Hope I get some yoga in tonight!

Hope y'all having a FANTASTIC weekend! :)

YEAH!!! That is such great news to hear. I am SO happy that things are going well!! have fun getting ready for the family stuff tomorrow.

To answer your question from my blog yesterday: no particular reason to clean the house, aside from that it was a MESS!!!!

Kelli ~ thanks! I love weekends when the kids come home! :)

Rachel ~ Last Sat. was one of my lowest days. Interesting the difference one week makes. Last Sun being fast Sunday, Larry fasted for me then gave me a priesthood blessing of counsel and comfort. In the blessing I was blessed that I would know what to do to rehab my foot. So I'm holding onto the faith that it will become fruition.

I was wondering where everyone was running. I am glad you had Toby's company and encouraged each other. Keep up the good work, Rachel. You will do great at Spectrum! :)

Andrea ~ thanks! I'm happy that your foot is fully recovered...looks like you've turned the corner and heading into a great season of training and racing! :)

Nancy ~ thanks! I feel very blessed!

allie ~ looks like you're recovered from your marathon. Great things are ahead for you!

SSF ~ this was truly a joyful run! Thanks! Am happy you had a very fun day yourself! :)

Toby ~ We had our young adult kids and their cousins and grandma over for dinner after church. I just love being around young adults...what a special generation.

My choir sang at Sacrament and my CTR class got divided, so now I have 6 instead of 11 children to love and teach! I LOVE my CTR kids...what a bright generation! :)

Bec ~ thank you! I HAVE to heal quickly! Boston is 5 weeks away. I am happy to be running again even though I am slow as tar right now! :)

From The Quiet Pirate on Tue, Mar 13, 2012 at 09:49:48 from 152.26.59.252

You're making good times with your run/walk. Better times than I've made on slow runs!!

Keep up the good recovery work & keep up the faith :-)
