Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Went to bed late late late after a busy busy night of attending the Stadium of Fire Eagle Scouts Court of Honor dress rehearsal and to hubby's 40th HS reunion.  Talk about extreme, I went from standing for hours in the scorching sun amidst 260 teenage boys to sitting at dinner at the Harley Davidson place among the geezers who still *thunk* they're in HS but are now grandpas!!!  Anyhow, got up at 4am to drive to my SSF's house where she and Darin (her bishop) are waiting.

We ran about 1.3 miles down thru puke hill to meet the rest of the Chumps at the park by Winchester.  It was fun meeting up with these awesome boys, JohnnyV, Rick (I think), John, Huans32, Rob Brough, TomSlick, RivertonPaul, Matt and Darin...did I miss anyone?  Teena and I were the only girls.

Temp was in the low 60s, breezy, sun hasn't come up yet.  I ran with RivertonPaul the first few miles, then with Slick, then with Huans32.  When we caught up to Teena at about mile 12.5.  Her right shin was giving her grief....STINK!!!  Slick stayed with her.   Huans32 and I went on ahead.  Then JohnnyV ran with me back to Teena's.  So glad to have him run/stay with me as I would surely be lost.  THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU JohnnyV!!!!  We saw his neighbor, Josh, pushing a stroller w/ his little girl.  We ran with him for the last 3 miles home.  It was fun listening to his victorious BQ run at Ogden.  He did it in 3:10:47, with 12 seconds to spare, SO COOL!!!

Felt good about this run, longest since UVM.  I ran at a relaxed comfortable pace.  Got some tips from Slick on running with "quiet" feet.  I am bummed for my SSF though. :( After we got to Teena's, I waited and worried.  Rylee and I cooked the scrambled eggs which was Teena's assignment for their Church's 4th of July breakfast.  Then I went with her family to the breakfast....I was starving and hadn't eaten anything except for one granola bar, 1 gu and 4 flasks of gatorade.  It was a fun run...well worth getting up dark and early.

17.25 in 2:40:49.  Did not stop the watch during walk/drink breaks.  AP: 9:19.  Splits:  10:04, 8:58, 9:09, 9:08, 9:03, 9:04, 9:30, 9:40 (drink and turn around), 9:12, 9:19, 9:27, 9:13, 9:20, 9:04, 9:33, 9:02, 9:33, 8:35.

Now off to sew merit badges on the sash for my son.  Will be fun at the Stadium of Fire tonight pinning the Eagle pin on my baby, the last of 5 boys to have earned the Eagle rank!  Yipee!!!

Hey, are you doing the RHPC next weekend? I have not seen you in forever so I hope so! I will be running with Wendy nice and easy so you will beat us, but we can chat after.

From Smooth on Sat, Jul 03, 2010 at 15:26:36 from 174.23.191.197

Kelli girl ~ We miss you! But you were doing more noble things this morning volunteering at the 10K.

I want to do the RHPC; but I have to play it by ear. It's the last Sat. my daughter, son-in-law and grandkids are here...so may need to stay home. But then again, if they sleep in, I'll sneak out and make it a quick one.

I am heart-sick about Teena's injury. It's the other leg this time. I wish I knew what to do. She was doing SO WELL and such an AWESOME runner! I just hate it when she's hurt!

I think a long nap is in your immediate future. I am tired just reading your entry. It sounds like a fun run with lots of people to chat with and keep the pace going. I am sorry for Teena's leg. I hope it isn't too serious. Have a wonderful holiday and try to sleep in tomorrow.

Wow, what a weekend you are having. Motorcycles aren't allowed in my house or I would be one of those geezers too. Wait, maybe I am anyway. Congratulations on your Eagle Scouts. That speaks highly of their parents as well as them.
