Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Walked with hubby this afternoon after an amazing Stake Conference.  He spoke without one single cough, quite a miracle.  He didn't sleep a wink last night from coughing and the side effect of Mucinex-D kept him up.  He spoke about member missionary work at the Priesthood leadership this morning.  He spoke for 30 min in the general session about increasing faith, following the prophets and more fully living the Gospel.

After he got home, he interviewed a future bride, Lynde B., for her temple recommend, a perspective missionary, Matt S., for his missionary apps.  and then went to the newly sustained Patriarch's home to set him apart as the Stake Patriarch.  He received authorization from Elder Packer to do that which is pretty special as he probably won't get another chance to set apart a patriarch again.

Stake Conference was wonderful.  All the speakers were very well prepared and spoke with conviction and inspiration.  I am very grateful to be living among such good and faithful people.  I was happy to hear that Bing Du came.

Looking forward to a productive week.

Just got home from being a guest to a neighboring Stake where Mary S. was the Stake Young Women President.  It was their Young Women in Excellence night.  Mary spoke on the subject of setting Personal Progress goals and compared it to her marathon training and of accomplishing her goal of running her first marathon at TOU this year.  It was so neat to hear of the joy and triumph as well as the trial and adversity.  It was cool to re-live our running memories!

Sounds like you and Prez have had an unbelievably wonderful day my SSF!!!! I am so so so happy for you and Prez both. :)

We were scheduled for, and visited, another ward's RS today. It happened to be the ward of a victim, who died, during the Fort Hood killings. 19 years old. It is hard to explain the emotion that was felt there as plans were made to help the family and prepare for the funeral.

Anyway, I am missing you and looking forward to some SSF time this week. :)

When I read about that Nembelker (sp) family's tragic loss of their son in the Fort Hood shooting, I was wondering if he was in your neighborhood. Wow, it must have been so hard!!!

Can't wait to see you on Tue. LOVE YOU!!!

Smooth, the Nemelka family is a wonderful family. I don't know them all that well, but know several people who do. My brother, John, used to live in their ward. I can't help but hold my children a little tighter this evening.

Wow, what a nice day you had.

Nemelka? I used to know a Jason Nemelka. I wonder if they are related. His father was an attorney.

Off the Sunday topic-- I just got around to telling everyone how happy I was to see you Friday. I certainly hope you get a massage in this week so you can have been spiritually AND physically renewed. I am so happy I could introduce you to my sister. I told her all about you, and we are both in awe. You are a smooth smoothie (a deep-digging-diamond-titanium-queen!!).

Smooth thanks for the nice non-running post. I'm glad Pres was able to do so well during Stake Conf. I've only met him once, but it didn't take long to know he is a great man. You and he are great examples to us all. Wish him well for me. I hope he is back to 100% soon.
