Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Slept in, checked the mail and email.  Ate breakfast.  Did laundry.  Good to be home but I'm missing my kids and grandkids terribly! :(  Could not find the motivation to run.

But today being National Run Day (I think) and smack in the middle of the two marathons (Ogden and UVM); plus it's first day of the month, I'd better get a run in whether I feel like it or not.  Finally headed out just before noon, very warm, windy with overcast sky.

The legs were stiff, tired and heavy.  The right patellar tendon protested immediately.  I could not get in a good rhythm.  The pace was slower than tar.  Could not get the left footfall to quiet down.  It was as if a rock was embedded in the sole.  I even checked it twice.  Drank from the f.o.y at mile 5, 9, 11.  Ate 3 shot blocks left over from Ogden at mile 5.

The only good part of the run was the surrounding beautiful mountains and valley.  I saw many horses, 3 camels, 1 mule, mothers jogging with strollers and children at Field Day and Dance Festival.

How am I going to run UVM in 10 days?  It's gonna be a very LONG painful one, I'm afraid! :(

It's good to have you back, Smoothie!!! You had a very busy week that sounded exhausting, yet you made it out for a 14 miler. Impressive. Even though you think it will be a long day at UVM, I'm sure you'll still do well, you always do. You should take the day off on Thursday and relax. You deserve it.

Way to go, Smooth. 14 miles on a day you didn't feel like running? I wish I was so unmotivated! :) You'll find a way at UVM..you always do!

Dale and Marc ~ THANKS!!! I am lacking motivation lately! I am however very grateful that I CAN run so I need to quit the whining! :)

P-dawg!!! Thank you for saying that and you do know a LOT of fast runners! I am certain that you will be faster than your mom in no time and that she is very proud of you!!! You are the fastest youngest chump I know! :)
