Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Should have NEVER EVER taken Mucinnex-D.  I could not fall asleep even though I was very very very tired.  When the fam. left at 7:30 to go skiing, I had barely fallen asleep.  Hubby tried to drag me out of bed to no avail.  My head felt like it was going to explode.  I begged to please let me stay home!

Got up an hour later to clean up the house...the Holiday's aftermath!!!!  My sinuses are so plugged up; felt like I was underwater.  Got all dressed up to go running outside.  Whoa!!!  It was SOOOO COLD!!! My nasal passage felt like it was on fire.  After running less than 0.25 mi,  decided to bag it.  Went in the house and called Teena.  My poor SSF is SICK!!!  Sat and contemplated what to do???!!!

The legs felt fine; may be a run would clear up the sinuses; so off to the TM in the dungeon.  The first 3 miles were sluggish.  Once I got warmed up, it felt pretty good, had to blow my nose bazillion times, drank copious water.  Nothing good on TV so I sped up a little at the end.  The TM time only goes to 99:59 min. so it was a good thing I finished the run in 99:08.

11 miles in 1:39:08  AP: 9:01

Oh, the benefit of having "semi-free" time is I get to catch up on some reading.  I FINISHED reading the Book of Mormon this morning!  YAY!  I reached my goal of reading the D & C and B of M by the end of 2009!!!  I like being a FINISHER!!!!

SO SO SO Sorry you are sick!! I know the feeling, this is how my sinus infection felt the first of the month. That nasty 'underwater' feeling, echoing through your teeth and eyes...uggh, I'm so sorry!! If it sticks around go see if it's turned into a sinus infection. After about 2 days on the Z-pack I was significantly better, still had high tissue counts, but could at least think.

I'm glad you felt good enough to get those miles in, and just in time! Plus you got your goal finished with days to spare. You simply are an amazing, inspirational woman!! Thanks for being around for us, and send my best wishes to Teena for a quick recovery as well!

Smooth, how do you do that when you are sick??? I would have crawled back into bed and milked it for all it's worth!!! I guess that is why you are going to Boston and I am not!! What a good girl you are! Take it easy and get better young lady!

And you finished with a few days to spare---great job! Sorry you are all plugged up, I hope that gets better. Do you still have a bunch of family in town? How was your Christmas?

From Smooth on Tue, Dec 29, 2009 at 00:22:07 from 174.23.217.47

Rachel ~ I am willing this head cold to GO AWAY!!! Hope it doesn't turn into a sinus infection!

Leslie ~ My family came home and got mad at me! Said I should have either stay in bed or gone skiing with them. Such sympathy I got around here! :)

Kelli ~ WELCOME HOME! We had a wonderful Christmas! All the family are here for the New Year! Party goes on!

Nice job toughing out a run (and no small, easy one at that) when you are so sick. Congrats on reaching your scripture reading goals too.

TRUE BLUE VICE PREZ. Showing us all how its done. WELL DONE in underwater feeling mode. I am with you. It has been interesting sucking on halls honey lemon cough drops seeing how many miles one can last. Got the last one to last over 4 miles. That's good cause the others were only lasting 3 miles and I only brought 3 for my 11 miler. They really helped clear up my sinuses, not to mention blowing my nose into my jacket every other moment. You know what I am talking about. You should be feeling a bit better today right? Sure hope so. One good long nights sleep should do the trick. Try 1/2 generic benadryl with two ibuprofen at about 830pm with a large glass of water : D

Scott ~ A good run can cure ALMOST any ailment! :)

Rhett ~ You know how OCD I am!!!

Kathie ~ I am feeling better. THANKS!

Dale ~ I slept like a baby last night!

Julie ~ Why didn't I think of that, sucking on halls cough drops! GREAT idea! I slept very well last night. No problem getting up this morning to go skiing with the fam.

april ~ I don't understand why we need sinuses or toenails!

wished I had remembered your experience with mucinex D. IT has made me terribly spacy, out of body and my muscles feel weak. I even only took a 1/2 a pill over 18 hours ago and I still feel its affects.
