Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Ran to Mt. Ridge Jr High with Wendy via SR92.  We stopped at the park to refill my water bottle.  Walked the uphill and stopped running once we reached 8 miles.  AP: 11:28  AHR: 145.  We started at 6:30am and it got pretty warm quickly.

It was so good to pour my heart out to my best friend.  She understands how much I love running and feels my anguish over the past year with my struggle with asthma, 2 stress fractures and now the tachycardia issue.  I so appreciate her listening ears and she is always there when I need her.  She is so Christlike.  I am so grateful to have her as my neighbor and best friend.  I am a better person because of her goodness and love!  :)

Need to go shopping as company is coming tonight and I will be at Girls Camp this afternoon and evening.  So no running tomorrow morning.  It'll be good to save my body for Saturday's 18 miler, longest run since April 28, 14 weeks ago...hope I can do it.  I have come to appreciate all that God has given me.  I am treasuring and enjoying each run as a gift.  I ask myself this question almost daily:  what can I offer, how can I love more sincerely and deeply and what ways can I serve God better?!!!

Always putting others first...yup, that is Smooth! I'm glad Wendy has been so wonderful to be with! She is an amazing person and I'm SO glad you have her - and she has YOU!

Good luck on Satuday! Maybe I'll come bike with you while you run :)

You are definitely blessed to have Wendy in your life AND she is very blessed to have you! :)

This has for sure been a crazy hard year for you. That means that the upcoming year is going to be one of your BEST ever!! I am sure that I read somewhere that that is absolutely how it works! :)

Hang in there my friend!!! :)

How could you serve God better? Look how many peoples' lives you have touched in such a positive way.

RAD - good luck with your bike ride on Sat. Wish I knew how to bike. :)

Teena - yes, it's been a difficult year in terms of injuries...BUT nothing in comparison to how I've been feeling over a very special sister and her family. She once said that she believes God put me in her path...that we have eternity to be soul sisters. She certainly introduced a whole new meaning of "peace" and "happiness" to my simplemindedness and have me questioning the real meaning of love!

Oh yeah, next year will definitely be a BETTER year...however don't believe in everything you read! :)

Dale - you say the kindest thing! I feel that it is the other way around, my life has been positively enriched and blessed because of friends like you and so many around me!

hey Slickster - being careful out there is the motto for sure...never know what might be lurking...but we might as well enjoy the journey, right?! :)
