Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Ran first mile with hubby to Jimmy John's where he purchased a newspaper then ran home.  I then got on the Murdock Canal Trail heading east and turned around at the tunnel by Smith's (mile 2.5).  Continued west to Center where the tunnel construction is not complete and got my shoes muddy (mile 4).  Stopped to stretch and clean the mud off the shoes; then continued west to near rail trail junction (mile 5.5) then turned around.  Got a headwind going east and uphill.

I have not run alone for a long time so it was nice to focus on form:  belly button to spine, go to the glutes and hammies when the quads were squawking, tall puppet and elbows back.  No drink nor fuel for the run which took 90 min.  Last year on the Sat after SGM I ran 10 miles and the pace was a min per mile faster.  Dang, I'm so out of shape! :( Didn't help that I have gained 5 pounds over the year.  On the bright side, I am so grateful and happy to be running on a beautiful Fall morning!!!

Got a call from my daughter who ran the Ten for Texas this morning.  It's the longest distance race she's ever done!  So proud of her!  Can't wait to run with her in Dec.

Glad you had a good run. Don't worry about time right now. And geesh ... you are recovering quite excellent to be running full marathons every two weeks!!! I seriously have no idea how you pull it off. Pretty remarkable if you ask me! :)

Oh Smoothie, I bet I'm more out of shape than you. Haha. Cool picture of your daughter. I can see a little of both you and Larry in her face.

When is your next race?

SSF ~ less you think it is remarkable to run marathon every two weeks, two ladies in my age group ran the Utah Marathon, just one week after SGM. One of them always takes podium! Really, I am just barely surviving! It is discouraging to see how slow I am now compare to just a year ago! BUT, I am not sad. I am indeed happy to be running healthy. It is just inevitable that I will only get slower as I get older.

AND THANK YOU SO MUCH for your kind support! :)

Dale ~ you are so funny! I am so excited for you to start your P90X program and reach your PR goals!!!

My next scheduled marathon is the SoJo Marathon this Sat. It is so close to home. Figure I'd take advantage of this good running weather which may not last for much longer! :)

there is no way you are "just surviving!" You thrive- even when you've got a boot on, you're still doing amazing feats of fitness.

Enjoy the beatiful weather and your running friends.
