Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Ran the first 0.2 mile with hubby.  Ran up to Highland and Alpine.  Road was icy with crunchy snow.  Went inside the church by Deerfield Elementary for drink and potty break both ways.  There was a ward Primary activity where the kids were in pjs.  Saw Jon and Kelly at my mile 13.3.  Stopped to chat a bit.  That gave my legs enough of a break that I ran the last 2.25 home at mp.  Also saw Mary on her way to snowshoeing.   It was a good run!  I'm very tired.  Off to play with Emi!!!

Great miles this week Smooth. Lovely day. Good for you to get some quality miles in. Are you aiming for a PR at Boston? I think you are totally capable of that again.

Nice miles, you are putting in over 60 miles a week already, are you planning to peak at 70 or even more than that?

Happy New Year Fast runing skiing lady! Catherine thinks she's going to Grand Slam this year, and I just kept thinking about you. I don't think it's for me--but I know Catherine could use some good advice! Love your new profile picture-- skiing, it's the new running, right?

Smoooooooooooth! What's gotten into you? 61+ miles to finish 2009 and start 2010. You're amazing!

We need to start planning our Boston activities...are we planning to go to a BoSox game again?

Enjoy your rest day on Sunday!

Bec ~ Not sure about a PR at Boston, a BQ will be nice.

Kathie ~ I keep thinking and thinking and thinking over if 70/18 is right for me. So far so good. But my speed has suffered. The high mileage leave me feeling tired and lead-legged.

Luz ~ Grand Slam is doable if you run them as long long training runs (with benefits). I only raced two marathons, Boston and SGM. Catherine will really like it. AmberG on the blog did that this year and won the Slam in women.

Julie ~ You are the queen of mileage. No clogged sinuses can ever stop the Prez of NSAIRC!!! You had an AWESOME run today!

Marc ~ I'm a bonafide member of the NAIRC (Not So Anonymous Insane Runner Club). Plus I need to run off some of that holiday flab! :)

We want to do something different besides Sox game. Do you have any idea or suggestions? Can't wait to party at Beantown! :)

Seriously, check out those miles!!! VERY NICE!!

Hope you had fun with Emi and are now sound asleep.

Love you so much!

Nice run Smooth! Glad to see you doing well with the high mileage. Keep it up!

Wow you went from 5 to 15! that is amazing!

From Rhett on Mon, Jan 04, 2010 at 15:02:43 from 216.67.211.75

Great run Smooth. Did Prez run any more with you besides the first .2?

Mark asked about Boston. Now that Slick isn't around to plan for us, who's the party planner? The Sox game was fun last year, but I had more fun going out to eat in China town and it was a lot warmer. What about a Saturday night dinner party in China town?

What ever the group decides to do, I'm in. It was so much fun hanging with everyone last year. It made for a very memorable trip.

From Smooth on Mon, Jan 04, 2010 at 17:09:55 from 174.23.217.47

vinh & april ~ My highest mile week was 63 last winter and it was HARD! I'm venturing into the 60's with this cycle and crossing my fingers that I don't get injured.

Rhett ~ I'm not much of a baseball fan. It was fun going to the Sox game with the gang. I know Marcie loves baseball. She went to the game on Sat and Sun.

I'm thinking since our hotel is so close to the theater district. We might want to look into some shows, either the broadway shows or if there's a great movie. I'm always game for dinner party at China town.
