Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

My arthritic joints (mostly fingers, wrists and toes) tell me winter is knocking at the door.   Sunny and cold with a wicked wind from the north which took my breath away!  Ran with John and Wendy for 5 then 1.5 by myself.  Splits: 10:06, 9:30, 9:25, 9:42, 9:11, 9:02, 8:03.  AP: 9:23.

My nose kept running even after the run which was embarrassing b/c I was orienting a new Primary counselor who is going through chemotherapy.  She didn't seem to be bothered by it; but I have become a germophobic mainly for the concern of those who are immunosuppressed such as Alex and this sister.

I like this maintenance phase of my running.  I'll just run an hour every day, throw in a tempo day and a long run once a week 'till I get into training mode again.

Hope the weather is good tomorrow for a long run!

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYONE!!!

Nice job, Smoothie. When does training mode start for you? I just started this week after taking more than a month to work on my speed.

Dale ~ THANKS! I notice you are getting very speedy! That's AWESOME! Training mode will start when I sign up for a race which will probably be Painter's half. I wish I could run marathons year round.

I am already three weeks in to my painters schedule...but then I need more help than you do.

Nice maintainance plan Smooth. Enjoy until the hard work starts again.

Nice work Smooth! I'm sure she didn't mind the runny nose and she understood. Or maybe she just Lysol'd after you left :) It's VERY considerate of you to even be mindful of those things around those with suppressed immune systems. Sorry, it had to be through Alex and other experiences!

I'm all for a nice running day tomorrow too!! I'm doing an afternoon run.

My fingers froze today, and my ears!!! Other than that it felt great!! We do not need our fingers or noses, right?

You have a great weekend, too!

Hey Smooth! I was going to say exactly what allie did, "love your maintenance plan", , , I think that's what we have to do through the winter, just maintain. but who am I to complain? you guys are brave soldiers to get out in that weather up there! keep it up:) hope you have a great weekend!!!!
