Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Met my SSF, Matt, Brooke, BJ at Winchester at 8.  Ran the first 3 miles w/ SSF then the rest w/ Karen.  My pelvis, hammies, glutes, quads are sore.  Got a new blister on my left 4th toe.  Hope everything heals up by next Sat.   Oh I gained 6 pounds...but my sister's wonderful sinfully delicious cooking was well worth it! :)

THANKS SSF for inviting me and the hot chocolate post run!  :)

A sad note:(  a dear friend, Lori, died this morning, after battling cancer for 8 years, leaving behind a wonderful husband and 4 absolutely outstanding terrific children.  The oldest is on a mission in Taiwan, the youngest is 11.

SSF~

I was SO glad you and Karen came!! :) :) :)

(What can I do to help you before VOF?)

I am so sorry to hear about Lori. Cancer is such an ugly thing.

And btw, for being as sore and as tired as you are you were running extremely well!!!! :) :) :) (You do realize that taking a few days off will NOT hurt you, right?)

SSF ~ I need to do all those little important things you showed me to properly recover this week.

I am so sad that Lori is gone. She fought courageously. I last visited with her 2 weeks ago. She was so positive, so brave and so hopeful that she would see Carter comes home. He's only been gone 6 months. Yesterday the RS sisters worked all day to complete the 5 quilts she wanted for her husband and children. I felt so bad that I wasn't home. Her death was really a surprise to me. I really thought she would live to see Carter returns. I have lost too many dear friends to cancer! :(

It sounds like you had a nice visit with your sister and ate lots of good food. I'm sorry about your friend passing away. I was glad to hear that your husband was watching you run while in California. Great job with all the running.

Reading over your last few days I am surprised you didn't gain more. I would have. Wow your menu was so delicious sounding!!! Totally sad for your friend's family right now. I still feel helpless about what to do for my friend in the ward who's son died almost two weeks ago.

Wow, sorry to hear about your friend. These things seem to come in waves.
