Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOHNNYV!!!

Couldn't resist Teena's bribe of post-run birthday treats...to go run with the Chumps! :)  Went to bed late...Fri. date night to keep hubby happy!  Slept thru the alarm...hubby woke me up at 4:50 am!!!  Met Staci at the park & ride at 5am.  Arrived at Winchester at 5:25 am sharp!!!  I think that's a PR with no speeding tickets!  :)

The RunLoco Club was setting up a half marathon race and George Sunderland invited me to join them.  Tempting but no thanks!  It was more fun to watch Johnny run with his birthday headband that Teena paid a fortune for...well, he only wore it for the Kodak moments.

Teena told the boys to go on ahead; and she was going to hang with me and Staci nice and easy!  Hah!  She was true to her words until Johnny and RivertonPaul turned around to run with us!  Then she turned into one of them fast boys!  Seriously, I think she wants to KILL me!!! :) :) :) :)

Then we had a birthday bash at 7-11.  I secretly wanted birthday cake and ice cream; but slurpee was superb especially when we got to test taste all the flavors!!! THANKS SSF!

*** Oh, don't believe Teena if she ever says I was running fast!  It's all lies***

Proof is in the pudding ~ 13.25 in 2:01:40 ~ NOT fast by any imagination!!!!

SSF ~

What in the world are you talking about??? You are the one, my dearest SSF, who took off with RivertonPaul and left Johnny, Staci and I in the dust! I did not begin to press the pace at all until we had about 2 miles left when Backus showed up. You KNOW that is true!!!! You always blog that I leave you and so this time I vowed not to. When you left me - sweetest, kindest, loveliest Smooth - I figured it must be okay. Silly silly silly girl!!! :)

(Truthfully, I love watching you speed up ... you have more speed in you than you give yourself credit for.)

Proof in the pudding? Post your last few mile splits!!!!!!! :) :) :)

Love you so much and am SO SO SO SO happy when we run together (even if it is sometimes several yards apart). :) :) :)

You are the BEST!!!!!

(How did the school shopping go?)

SSF ~ You make me laugh so hard! You know I just love you to pieces! THANKS for running with me! I seriously had the most fun running with you at whatever pace!!!!

Shopping with the boys was a breeze! We spent $600 for the two boys, half of it was food/grocery for Bryan! :) :) :)

I tried to buy a diamond pendant...it's 55% off and another 30% off if I open a store credit card. But hubby said I needed to do more *research*! DANG!!! So I bought a simulated diamond pendant and a bracelet instead. Got to wear some bling to entertain the bank ladies! Do you think they can't tell the difference?

Sorry Smooth, I believe Teena! I have seen what you are capable and i read your speedy blog. Your improvements this last year are phenomenal. Whatever you are doing, it is working!!! You are a smart runner and are just getting faster and better with age.

Rumor is you were running 7:20s on this 13+ miler. I'd say that's pretty darn SPEEDY. Nice work. Now get a little rest for that marathon coming up this Sat.

Oh you and Teena make me laugh! How fun you got to run with Staci. :) Tell her hello for me. I love that you got a PR even before you started running, ha ha, that's funny. . . and it sounds like you stayed pretty speedy once you started running too!

I hope to see you at Park City! :) I havent' let myself really think about it much yet, , , I'm just using it as a training run (but there's a little competitive juice in me so I might,. . . just might race once I get there! )

Excellent run! You two are too funny. Fighting over who is fast and who isn't. In my book/imagination a 2:01 is pretty fast for a 1/2!!

From Smooth on Mon, Aug 16, 2010 at 19:25:41 from 174.23.203.161

amber ~ Hope to see you at PC too! I have enjoyed running with Staci. She's a neat girl...cute family! thanks for hooking her up with me/us. We always talk about what an awesome runner and person you are! I tried talking her into coming to PC to cheer you as you defend your title! You go girl! You will do awesome race or not! Can hardly wait to see you!

Rachel ~ That's what SSFs are for! Your long run was AWESOME! Hope you can join us one of these Sat.
