Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

FUNNEST RUN EVER since returning from injury!!!!  SO SO SO SO HAPPY that RAD, Quiet Pirate and her dahling water boy came all the way to Lehi JRP to run with me (Bec, Wendy and hubby too!) :) :) :) :)

QP is SO FUN to run with!!!  GREAT chats!!!  :) :) :)  RAD has such sharp eyes even when she was running so very speedily with Bec that she could spot some "treasures" along the way.  She would stop to wait for us to get there so QP could snap a pix.

It was such a magical run!!!  I did not feel any pain during the run; only slight discomfort (in the left hip) when we started back up after each stop.  I think we stopped 5-6 times (mile 2 drink, mile 3 regroup to see if we should turn around, mile 4 turnaround and group pix, mile 5ish roadkill kodak moment, mile 5.25 pelicans kodak moment and Mr. QP to retrieve a "find" from the pond, mile 6 drink).  I did not look at my Garmin until we were done and was so surprised to see the 9:34 AP.  I did stop the Garmin when we stopped.  (10:18, 9:44, 9:30, 9:12, 9:14, 9:24, 9:35, 9:36)  Very happy about the pace for the last two miles where we did not stop and it felt smooth and easy.  YipEEEE!!! :)

This is hubby's first time on the JRP.  He really likes the trail.  He ran 4 miles and waited in the car for us! :)

THANK YOU SO MUCH RAD and QP for running with me!!!  You girls are the best!!!! :) :) :)

So good to see you out and about again and have your injury under control. Super neat to hear Larry is really getting into the running? "Bless his heart". Do you think you'll be doing the Park City Mary???

??? What??? "hubby's first time on the JRP". This is great. At least for awhile I can keep up with him. Then he will be like you, and run me and everyone else into the ground. Great to hear about you out on the road again, stay healthy!

Toby ~ we missed you! I think that left hip/leg is carrying the whole load so it's squawking a bit.

Nancy ~ thanks! how's your daughter doing with her stress fracture?

Slickster ~ I am holding out hopes that I will be able to do Park City. If not, may be I can switch it to the Half. I am taking it one day at a time.

Jon ~ SO GOOD to hear from you! I was just thinking about you and Kelly the other day.

You make me laugh! Seriously, I am SO SLOW these days. I couldn't keep up with Larry this morning...it was very humiliating. Good thing it was only 2 miles! :) Hehehe!

I was SO happy to see you and run with you! You are doing great on the running, take today as that recovery and you'll be back to kickin' prez's trash in no time :)

I'm so glad you had such a great run! You deserve one of those. :) And your hubby is doing so well! 'Bout time he starts a blog! LOL (hey, it was worth a try mentioning at least). I hope your aches go away soon. Could it be viral arthritis? Are you taking anything for it?

From Smooth on Fri, Jul 20, 2012 at 16:21:55 from 24.2.95.192

Brooke ~ thanks for checking on me! hubby will never get on the blog. he doesn't even text! I am just so glad he is enjoying the short little runs. I hope he keeps it up when we're on our mission.

no, I am not taking anything for the little aches and pain. I figure as long as I can function I will stay away from any meds. I do take EmergenC Joint Health daily, a multivitamin and 2000mg of total Calcium with D. Hmm, I have not thought of viral arthritis! I will google that, thanks!
