Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Boy! was I tight, tired and sore this morning!!!  Hubby was all excited to go and I wanted to stay in bed.  I never thought he'd be the one who wants to run and I'd be the slacker! :)  I reluctantly dragged my sorry sore self out at 7:30.  Didn't wear watch...didn't want to know how painfully SLOW I was.

Hubby was very kind to walk with me for a little bit.   Then he started to run and to my astonishment I could not keep up with him....what?!!!  A neighbor weeding his yard said "Hi" to hubs; then when I jogged by, said:  "If you hurry you might catch him!"  I humbly replied:  "Probably not!"!!!  SO humiliating!  :)  He was feeling so good that about a mile into the wog he sped up for about 400m then slowed down for about 200m to wait for me.  I later told him that he was doing Fartlek! :)  He couldn't believe I'd uttered such a silly word...thought I was teasing him! :) :) :)

We had to cut our run short because a very distraught sister called just as we were leaving the house that she needed a temple recommend interview with hubby.  I was hoping to go to water aerobics but missed it because she came to the house during that time.

So cool that Larry is really into it

Very cool! You'll be back Smooth. It is coming along nicely. Be patient. :)

I'm right there with you, Smoothie!!! Keep it up. Tell Larry he is doing awesome!!!

What an awesome treat to run with Larry!!! I'm so sorry about your hip. My hips always give me fits! I'm not sure if this is your issue, but sometimes my hips become unbalanced. I believe chiropractors are "witch doctors" who want to take your money, but he has popped my hip back into place. It helps.

Another stretch that might help...I put one knee on the ground and one bent. I can really open my hips and stretch them. But I find I need to really stretch my hammies and glutes too...since they are all relying on one another.

Good luck friend!

That is so neat that your hubby is getting so fast. Sorry about the sore muscles.

Yeah Larry! But sorry that you were not feeling it, dang it! Those days for sure happen (to me a lot!!)

Are you going to join us at all this weekend? No pressure at all. Rachel is coming and she knows the course, so we are good BUT it would be great to see you a little if you are feeling up to it.

Tim ~ thanks for your encouragement. Patience is a virtue that I lack for sure!

Dale ~ I told Larry what you said. He's kinda embarrassed that I mention his running. :) How's your migraine? Hope it's gone and you're feeling better.

Toby ~ Thanks for the great suggestions. I'd never thought of going to the chiropractor. We have a great chiropractor in our ward. I might go see him if the hip continues to give me fits. It seems to feel better today.

Yes, I know that hip flexor stretch you're talking about with bended knees and on one the ground. Teena has shown that stretch to me before and I always forget to do that. I need to do some dynamic stretches before I start running too. It's high time that I do the little things that keep the parts from "rusting" :)

Nancy ~ The sad thing is hubby isn't getting very fast! :)

Kelli ~ What time and where are you girls meeting? I won't be running your pace but since I'll already be at PC, I can show up to say hi! :)

Not sure, I will check with Rachel.
