Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

7 recovery mi. in 1:03:20  AP: 9:02.

K, I was REALLY trying to run it nice and easy like a recovery run should.  As usual the vastus medialis woke up and complained 2.5 miles into the run.  The only way to quiet it down is to run at 9 mm pace.  With 2 miles to go, it started to rain and the wind picked up.  Then with a mile to go, the sky went dark and the rain turned into snow.  Whoa!  dejavu of my last 22 miler,  it was freezing cold.  Hmmm, wonder how much of a *recovery* run it was!?!  O well, it's good to work off that nervous energy.

I am SO SO SO SO EXCITED that my SSF had a good PT visit and got a go-ahead to run Boston.   It's going to be SOOOO FUN!  :)

Oh, man. Apparently I am being a wimp this week on my miles! Great job with the run, sorry about the achy whatever you call it! Do not let it get worse and all will be well, right?!

I am so glad about Teena's news as well. I was getting depressed thinking she would not be there with us!

From Smooth on Tue, Apr 13, 2010 at 18:41:29 from 174.23.237.236

Kelli ~ Your recovery miles are PERFECT! You had some mega miles...so it's all good! That achy part is there all the time and usually goes away after 6 miles or so. So nothing to be concerned about.

Yes, I was all depressed and did my share of crying over. Now, we can move on to planning the party.

BTW, are you and Scott planning to go to dinner w/ us on Sat. in Chinatown? I can't remember if you're doing the course tour and go to dinner w/ us afterwards or not. I need to call around some Chinese restaurants and see if I can make reservation.

We are not doing the tour! We are going to Salem that day since we get in at 5 am and Walter has a car, not sure when we will be back. I will keep in touch with you that day and we will see where we are. My plan was to meet you guys so long as we get back in time!

From Smooth on Tue, Apr 13, 2010 at 18:50:48 from 174.23.237.236

Sounds like a great plan. So Walter is on the same flight? You guys will enjoy Salem!

Take your vitamin C so that cold rain doesn't make you sick. I'm getting hungry for Chineese. What time are we meeting for that?

From Smooth on Tue, Apr 13, 2010 at 19:12:12 from 174.23.237.236

Rhett ~ I need to call around and make the reservation. Some of us that are going on the Course Tour will not be back until 5pm so I'm thinking 6pm. I just can't remember the name of that restaurant we went last year. So, I'll just google and call. Will let you know.

Yep, Walter and his wife are on the same flight!

From Smooth on Tue, Apr 13, 2010 at 19:19:49 from 174.23.237.236

Kel ~ That's cool! Always nice to have friends to travel such long flights with!

I never realized how many parts there are to the lower legs. I use the terms "shin" and "calf" to cover just about everything! :) You're ready for just about any kind of weather. See you on Saturday....can't wait for the Chinese food!

Are you thinking about your carb load for the Boston Marathon....should start Friday!

From Carolyn in Colorado on Wed, Apr 14, 2010 at 10:58:39 from 24.8.167.243

You had quite an eventful recovery run.

It sounds like your plans for Boston are well underway. Have a great time!

From Smooth on Wed, Apr 14, 2010 at 12:58:03 from 174.23.237.236

Coach ~ Friday is shop, laundry and pack day. I guess I'll have to remember to carb load too.

Carolyn ~ The weather was so strange. It started out warm and got really cold being pelted by the wind and freezing sleet at the end was NO fun! Still got lots to do (non-running-non-Boston stuff) the next couple days.
