Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

12 miles MLR.  Plan was to run 4 hill miles, down 3200 N up it, then down 2600 N back up it, then down 300 W and up it x 2.  But when I took my son to school, I saw how bad the wind storm was coming from the SW, I abandoned that plan and onto the boring TM.

3 miles warm up @ 1%:  10:56, 9:46, 9:28  Felt rather fatigued, slow to warm up!

Four 1-mile hills @ progressive incline with  0.5 mile @ 1% incline between hills:

Hill #1 @ 2% in 9:20 (1/2 mi @ 1% in 4:32)

Hill #2 @ 3% in 9:15 (1/2 mi @ 1 % in 4:30)

Hill #3 @ 4% in 9:11 (1/2 mi @ 1% in 4:25)

Hill #4 @ 5% in 9:00 (1/2 mi @ 1% in 4:22)

3 miles cool down @ 1%:  8:34, 8:47, 8:49

Need to do some yoga tonight.

NICE HILLS!!!!! you are doing so great, I am so excited for your Boston run! I am so excited for Teena's Boston run. I just need to get excited about MY Boston run.

From Kelli on Tue, Mar 30, 2010 at 18:11:24 from 71.219.89.155

THAT is a good link!!! Dang, I should have gotten up at 4 am and done my long run last weekend. Oh well, I will somehow survive. i will taper really well after that one!

From Teena Marie on Tue, Mar 30, 2010 at 22:30:44 from 174.52.45.85

SSF -- KILLER RUN!!! Check out those hills!!! You are so so so hardcore!

How is your body feeling?

Make sure you take advantage of the taper! :)

I love you!!!

From Smooth on Tue, Mar 30, 2010 at 22:43:23 from 174.23.251.49

Kelli ~ I have been avoiding hills for too long. Can you tell I'm trying to cram them in? Hills are my weakness!

We need to have a pre-Boston party to get you pumped!

SSF ~ Those hills aren't nearly as killer as your puke hill or the one on 70th S. I just hope I survive Heartbreak w/ my lack of hill training.

Every morning I feel very fatigue. I force myself to run and always feel better right after the run. By night time I'm tired and cranky again. Thanks for reminding me to taper. I need to listen to you and Andy! I love you and miss you. Wish we could do one more long run together!

From Teena Marie on Tue, Mar 30, 2010 at 22:46:43 from 174.52.45.85

I would LOVE to do another long run with you. But when? I will be in Midway this weekend (and am not even sure that I will be running by then). We could do one on a Thursday late-late afternoon or a Friday afternoon??? I hate being so busy. Hate it -- Hate it -- Hate it!!! Can't wait for summer break. Less than 6 weeks!!!! :)

Smooth- Thanks for posting that link. This is great info for N00bs like me. It looks like you're having another fantastic week. Too bad this weather has made a turn for the worse.
