41F.  Ran Preston's (I Just Run) race today.  He did a great job as a race director - a perfect race, in my opinion.  He even had a guy on a bike riding alongside me, telling me where to go; I think he must've told the guy I was directionally challenged.  It was good to see him and David (derhammer) - 3 Texas FRB'ers in 1 place??  Gotta be a record.

After passing a guy around the half-mile point, the race became a time trial effort.  Had David not been coming off of injury, we probably could've pushed each other to sub-18's.  So I blame missing 17:xx entirely on him, I think that's fair.

Splits were 5:46, 5:49, 5:46, 0:40 for the stub.  I started the kick way too late, that's where I missed it.  I probably could've kept going after the finish line for awhile...lesson learned.  Other than that, I ran a great race - paced very well, etc.

All done with 5k's for awhile now though -- got 2 marathons and a 50k coming up, all in a 12-week span.  Sub-18 will have to happen next year......

Ahhh so close! Really good race - perfect pacing. Congrats. And you stayed on the course!

From Jason D on Sat, Nov 15, 2014 at 11:43:32 from 68.80.27.222

Well done, Joe. Enjoy the 25 second PR. You don't get too many more of those in the 5k!

From Derunzo on Sat, Nov 15, 2014 at 11:58:34 from 24.218.179.128

Super fast..... damn you derhammer!

Joe did awesome - it was great seeing him run a great race. Sub 18 in the spring Joe - I'll be ready. :-)

Wonderful racing conditions and an awesome "well marked" course - great job Preston! I think there were something like 50 signs there!

From Burt on Sat, Nov 15, 2014 at 20:35:56 from 174.17.82.224

Well, well, well. Perhaps you're not a phoney after all. You might just be the REAL DEAL.

From flatlander on Sun, Nov 16, 2014 at 13:49:21 from 131.203.112.141

Great job, Joe, congratulations on the win and to Preston as race director. Sounds like a fun day.

Thanks all. Looking forward to seeing this race grow. All those things that normally annoy you about a local 5k (unmarked course, wrong distance, starts late, etc) were nailed perfectly by Preston. I think he should take over for the Chosen HM people.

aha, a race done right and your own navigator, not to mention strong FRB presence! perfect! You do have quite the schedule coming up! I've heard of the Cowtown 50k and am thinking about it!!

From SlowJoe on Sun, Nov 16, 2014 at 19:11:00 from 104.51.208.13

You would probably win cowtown, it would be pretty cool!

From Tom K on Mon, Nov 17, 2014 at 06:19:17 from 73.27.178.76

It was the 1 x 1 minute @ 5k pace the day before, wasn't it? That's what got you there! Oh, I'm totally stealing that from you! Nice, Joe.

From I Just Run on Mon, Nov 17, 2014 at 10:15:40 from 67.79.11.242

Thank you... Thank you... Thank you...!!! :-)

It was really stressful producing the race. I was so worried something was going to go wrong. I think I will be more relaxed next year. I had a hard time just spending a few minutes talking with my friends Joe and David...sorry guys, but thanks a bunch for coming.

BTW...I took all the things I've learned from mis-running races and put it into this race because you know I am the KING of mis-running courses!

From I Just Run on Mon, Nov 17, 2014 at 10:22:00 from 67.79.11.242

Oh...And congratulations on the PR Joe. I was so focuses on patting myself on the back I almost forgot to tell you! :-)
