AM:  57F, 97%.  9.5 miles total.  Aborted 6 x 1 at the track.  I thought I was running early enough to beat the cold front, and the air was perfectly stagnant during my warmup.  Interestingly I felt the front arrive exactly between the 3rd and 4th rep; in the last mile I couldn't run the northbound 200 in less than 50s, as the wind really kicked up, almost instantaneously.  So my 4 reps were 6:06, 6:06, 6:03, 6:20, then pulled the plug.  I was debating doing so anyway since I felt really flat...and also pretty unmotivated.  This was just fine for a post-illness / pre-5k-PR-attempt.  Wasn't looking to crush it anyway...

Funny...I was 1.5 miles into my run when the front hit. Luckily the temp didn't drop until I was finished.

Looking forward to see your PR on saturday. The course is very flat but it does have 8 turns I think...

Yeah I don't think we'll see the temps drop until tonight...dang wind though.

Glad to hear the course is flat! I'm going to try and be rested up for it. Hope the rain stays away for you...it'll probably make things easier for your RD duties.

I promise the course will be marked VERY...VERY well!

Pretty solid miles for feeling flat! It is cold and windy today as promised but I won't run in it until tomorrow! Good call on ending the workout, running into a headwind doesn't do much for fast turnover and speed.

What are the optimal weather months for running in San Antonio? Dec-April?

From SlowJoe on Tue, Nov 11, 2014 at 16:59:40 from 107.77.80.29

I'd say Nov - Mar. October and April have some decent days too. Basically kicking off the prime running season now.

Definitely just fine for getting over an illness. Nice reps Joe.

Exactly the reason I skipped the morning run. :-) Nice paces nonetheless. See you Saturday?

David - yes, see you Saturday...glad you're coming.

From derhammer on Thu, Nov 13, 2014 at 15:36:39 from 64.245.52.2

I don't think I have every run a 5k in that type of cold! Should be interesting.

From I Just Run on Thu, Nov 13, 2014 at 15:40:15 from 67.79.11.242

Looks like the wind will have died down by race time too. Should be good for you guys!

From SlowJoe on Thu, Nov 13, 2014 at 15:45:35 from 12.182.148.249

What, 40 degrees? Sounds perfect!

(with a good warmup)

From derhammer on Thu, Nov 13, 2014 at 15:58:48 from 64.245.52.2

I am predicting low 30's.

From I Just Run on Thu, Nov 13, 2014 at 16:00:44 from 67.79.11.242

My weather bug says 38, cloudy and 4 mph wind.
