AM:  52F!  6 @ 8:20 AP.  Cold front day!  Didn't even need my buttsweat towel!  I still need today to recover from this weekend's runs, but tomorrow will still be nice and I'll do my big 2 x 5k.  Kinda want it to go well - the 5k has me a bit rattled (the 2 miles where I wasn't lost).  Mile 2 was a 6:06, which is the pace I want for 13.1...not good.  I looked, and it was a bit more than 40' net uphill, but still...c'mon man!

Eh, don't put too much into that race. You had a workout that you ran low 6s quite well. as usual the workout will tell you what to do.

Break it down into a negative sub-80 minute split, which is roughly 6:10s for the first half and 6:02s for the second. If you are shocked by those 6:02s, try to hit 6:08 for the first set and 6:04 for the second set. My guess is that you are fit enough for that and the idea of 6:04s is somehow infinitely easier than 6:02s.

Thanks Jason - this is a little eerie, but your second suggestion is EXACTLY how I was planning on approaching it - 92/lap for the first 5k, then 91/lap for the next. Good to have a little confirmation! If I can't manage that pacing tomorrow, I probably need to adjust expectations for the race a bit...

Its about time you get a 52° run. Well deserved.

Isn't it funny how race pace seems impossible until you're in a race. For some reason it always seems daunting. Good luck on your workout tomorrow. You're looking good for that half!
