AM:  52F.  11 mi total.  Today was my big 2 x 5k @ HMP, 1 lap recovery between the 5k’s.  The goal was to just run 92/lap for the first 5k, then max effort, run my eyeballs out for the last 5k.  It went as planned – 19:08, 18:51.  Splits below are 1600s, plus the last 200.

19:08 – 6:08, 6:08, 6:07, 45

Lazy lap ~2:25

18:51 – 6:01, 6:05, 6:05, 40

The 5k’s together average right at 1:20 pace for a half, just under 6:07/mile.  If I were running Houston, with cold weather, I’d say I have an excellent shot at 1:19:xx.  Need to be a little more careful with this race though – should have some hills and most likely warmer weather than today.  Before Houston Half I ran this workout in 19:40, 19:28 (6:18 AP), then proceeded to run the race at a 6:19 AP.  So the good news is I'm way faster now (11 sec/mile).  The bad news is it'll be tough to convert that into a sub-80.  We shall see!

Just lost a month of entries..?  Hope that doesn't mean I just imagined running the last month.  I kinda remember running but if it's not on the blog, did it ever happen?

Thanks James - remember, you have to hit 88 mph in the delorean!

Joe - your entries are back as well as those of everybody else. I had a weird error with the network adapter this morning. It went into a bad state taking the main server offline. I quickly switched to hot spare without checking if its data was current, and went for a run. When I got back, I had a number of e-mails notifying me that my hot spare was not current.

When I got back I was able recover the network adapter - to my great joy it just needed a real power cycle to reset - I initially thought it was altogether broken. After I was able to bring things back in order and resync the data between the main and the spare servers so nothing would be lost. I am writing this comment partly to make sure the switch to main really worked.

Good job on the 5K repeats. Will be interesting to see what happens in Houston, but if the weather cooperates I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

Nice work getting 'er back up and running, Sasha.

Flat - I'm doing the full in Houston this year, 6 weeks after another full...kind of a backup to SA, so maybe I can have 1 good marathon this season!

That is a great workout, and one I will have to try when I get back to October.
