AM:  29F, a little fog.  10 @ 7:57 AP.  Hopefully ready to go for some LT work tomorrow.  Can't decide what to do though - 6 x 1, 30 min tempo, 4 x 1.5, 2 x 5k....so many choices....

PM:  47F.  4 @ 8:40 AP.  Still burping up Long John Silvers that I had 6 hours prior for lunch.  Happens every time.  The real question is why do I keep going there?  Because it's greasy and delicious, that's why.

The shape you're in at the moment you could do all of them - twice:)

I'm a mile repeats fan myself!

Its a cornucopia of "fun" workout choices!

You can't go wrong with any of them.

I'm thinking through the same thing. For Friday though. You most recently did the 2 x 5k I believe. Do you ever do tempo intervals? Based on the suggestions above you could do something like 3 x 12 minutes. I'm guessing the 4 x 1.5 would be like 4 x 9minutes+. Of course, I'd rather do a known distance because I sometimes run out of room on the only decent stretches of road to do them :) I do like a good set of mile repeats at LT pace though. Probably what I will do.

Jason - At first I was kinda tempted to re-do the 2 x 5k as a yardstick to see where I'm at, but I know would probably just end up "racing" against my old workout to prove to myself I'm faster now....which is soooo not the point. So I'll probably end up doing the 6 x 1 as well...seems much more reasonable, and I have not done mile repeats in a really long time. I don't think I've ever done 6.

It's helpful to repeat workouts, but I like your point about having to race yourself. I've done 7 with a minute and a half recovery and run 6 seconds faster for a half (my long run tempos had a lot to do with it as well). That was probably the hardest workout I've ever done. The Hanson's is tough but a good bit of rest. I did 5 the other week. Felt appropriately hard without being dead the next day.

I like the idea of confusing the body too (different rest, number of reps, etc). Derek is great at this. Others are too.

In response to food and running...there's a gem of an article in running times that I have yet to read...it's on puking and it has some action shots.

The problem with L.J.S. is that it is usually attached to another couple of restaurants. And you get a little from each. So your dinner will be some fish fillets with hush puppies, a burrito from Taco Bell, some KFC chicken, washed down with an A&W root beer. That is like staging a brawl in your gut!

From SlowJoe on Thu, Feb 14, 2013 at 07:30:51 from 155.219.241.10

Jason - I will have to check out Derek's blog. Definitely see the value in doing something different each time.

Tom - This particular LJS is on its own, but your theory is sound. I think I probably just should have left those little fried crispies at the bottom alone, but I was still hungry dammit.
