69F, 83%.  Short run on my own, then around the block with my 6-year-old.  I'm back in Oklahoma for the long weekend.  Nice to leave the house at 9am and it's still under 70 degrees.  That is the one and only thing I will miss about OK, the cooler weather.  Well, probably running on the isolated country roads too; San Antonio is a bit crowded.

My consistency with running sucks lately.  Partly due to illness, but things are hectic right now and I don't seem to have the make-it-happen mindset that I used to.  Hopefully after we close and move in the new house, some of it will come back if I can get into a routine.

I think a little "down" time is good anyway. When you set your sights on another goal you'll get that "make-it-happen" mindset back.

I hope you are ok, Joe??? Please check in soon.

It is much better to have active recovery than to have to take time off. Mentally, and physically, taking some time every year to run as you can, and not worry about training, is a really good thing.

Yep. Run what you want and have time for. It's hard to think about running when you aren't fully settled living-wise I'm guessing. Do some exploring, or perhaps what Bam suggested to Bret a few days ago: the doorbell fartlek (ring random door bell . . . you get the idea)

+1 on what Bonnie said. Just fit in what you can... Even just running 30 minutes or so everyday while things are crazy helps mentally and keeps your muscles from decaying :-)

It's the old Maslow stuff - sort the job and family and the home etc - they're way more important than running. Running is self-indulgent:) You'll get your mojo back once the other important things are sorted.

I was wondering why the humidity was so low on this post. 83%? Have a good long weekend with the fam!

Sometimes you just need a little break from "training". You just finished a monster training cycle for a marathon, and now you are in the middle of moving, such a full plate. Have some enjoyable runs when you can, and get back to "training" later when you are in a better place. Breaks can have that effect of letting you come back stronger than ever.

From SlowJoe on Mon, May 27, 2013 at 15:49:53 from 65.116.3.92

thanks all, the break has come and gone, I think. Probably need to get back into the routine now, or a day off here and there will snowball into more... 10 lbs heavier than I was for Boston too...yikes. Survive June, try to run something every day, then no excuses in July! Well, I'll still make excuses, but I'll be running more!

Seems like there is always something in the way from achieving my weekly mileage goals, but mainly I have to get rid of the weight. It comes off much more slowly than it went on. Glad you are over your infection at least, and good luck with your move.
