40F, NNW 24-31 mph.  7:36 AP.  Typical March day out on the Oklahoma plains...  Anyway, the goal today was to run easy, and spend some good time on feet.  Went a little faster than planned but still racked up 2:47 or so.  Pace was 8:40s going north, and 7:10s going south, given an even effort, so a good 90-second wind differential (we hicks in farmville don't have them fancy wind-blocking trees).

Anyway the most important thing was getting my first 100-mile week.  It won't be recorded for posterity since the blog counts Sunday-Saturday and I count Monday-Sunday, but it happened, ok?  I will probably never become a 100-mile-a-week guy though.  I think my body could probably handle it for awhile (if I got more sleep) but the doubles (running in the evening) feels a little selfish with the family at home, and I already have really limited spare time as it is.  So after Boston, the doubles will go away and we'll see what I can do on singles.  It's still been a lot of fun proving to myself that I could do it!

3 weeks to Boston....

Very very cool, Joe!! These miles will help immeasurably the last few miles of your next race (when is your next race?).

Thanks Bonnie - headed up to Boston in 3 weeks!

Yup ... You will rock it!!

Congrats, Joe. What I imagine is one of the great milestones of running. I think 2:45 is sensible for a 2:50-3:00 hour marathon. The nice thing about getting faster is you can spend less time on your feet for the long runs (doesn't mean fewer mile though). A guy featured in Running Times last month does 32 mile long runs on the roads. He also does triples. Whatever works!

Big congrats on the ginormous week Joe! That's awesome. Your body's learning lots of good stuff. Nice job bucking that wind today, too. A good 10 mph headwind raceday might do you a bit of good.

Nice week! Impressive! Look out Boston!

From Jake K on Sun, Mar 24, 2013 at 19:32:07 from 67.177.11.154

Monday through Friday is the CORRECT way to add up your weeks!

The adaptations you make with the increased mileage and doubles don't immediately go away. When you switch back to singles, if you keep the long runs and occasional mid-week "medium" long run, you'll keep that extra endurance you've built up. This cycle will pay dividends in Boston, and whatever comes after as well.

Awesome Joe! 100 miles whew! I am so excited for Boston, you are going to absolutely destroy it. You have trained amazingly, and you are a smart and tactical racer!

Congratulations, that is just tremendous. With any luck at all you are going to kill that course in Massachusetts.

Congrats on your 100mi week! You're definitely ready for Boston. Such an exciting time and will be an awesome experience!

Jason - if i did triples I think I would be "single" again.

Matt - from what I hear the last 5 miles usually have a headwind...guess we'll see...I'd rather not!

Tracy - thanks!

Jake - that's about what I thought; I think I just need to keep up a solid 70+ or so and can still improve a lot off of that.

April - thanks - trying to walk that line of getting great training yet not show up injured or overtrained

Flat - thanks

BnS - thanks, hope so!
